It wouldn't surprise me. Toyota America seems to be afraid of it's own flagship badge and will probably stick the Supra in Scion or Lexus to bolster sales.

Scion to me just seems like a tacky marketing gimmick a suit came up with when he had to justify his paycheck.

So glad we don't have it in Australia.

The best comment in that forum was the 3rd comment:

Very interesting. From what I gather:
- Toyota provided the FRS design to Subaru.
- Subaru engineered the chasis and engine.
- Now Toyota is taking that chasis and having BMW put their suspension and engine into it.

Is Toyota going to then take the Subaru chasis, BMW suspension and have someone else put their engineering into a piece? The end product will be dubbed, The Picaso.
Brilliant!

So I had to sell her. I was tempted to get another, but boost is a double edged sword. One on hand it's awesome for speed, but on the other the gains you can get are just way too easy. I didn't want to be tempted to turn 200rwkw's into 400rwkws.

Part of the reason why I love my 86. No temptation to mod any more than an intake, pulley, exhaust and a tune. Cos aside from that there ain't a whole lot you can do, besides rebuilding the engine.
The temptation is definitely there. The only thing holding me back from just itching for more and more power is that you don't need insane amounts of power in drifting. 350-400whp should be just fine for this light of a car.

If this holds true, it's even more reason why it should've been a Celica.

This is very interesting. I wonder what other collaborations between bmw and toyota will take place if this is sucessful.

Does this mean that the new supra may have a bmw engine in it? (In the similar fashion that subaru provided the motor for the 86 platform)

The 86 chassis is quite good.
