I like Matt Farrah, honest and to the point. Wasn't afraid to mention the heat issue.

not to be a party pooper or anything, but i'd like to see a street turbo'd FR-S since i believe that most of us here are keeping these beast's for street use, maybe? I'm more concerned about that if anything, for if i get one it'll be my daily driver for many years.

Good review. The car looked and sounded great. A lot of aftermarket FI cars won't stand up to much abuse, but heat issues aside, the FBM kit looked fairly reliable on track.
On a side note, I love how a handful of simple mods (coilovers, tires, and pads) are pretty much all you need to transform the twins into weekend track cars.

Wow that car looks like fun.
Vented hood, oil cooler (I'm assuming they don't have one), and actually making the fender vents functional could go a long way in remedying the heat issues. Heck, might want to open up the unused foglight bezel portion for brake cooling or extra ducting for engine cooling. |

great build sad they didn't drift it any but it sounds like it was not tuned for that. And go FULL BLOWN! i want to get one of their kits soon!
So it needs to be tuned or what? How are they going to reduce the heat? They said more air flow? How they going to pull that off ha? |

If a car can hold up to track conditions (which the car in this video can't), it can hold up to any conditions on the street. Heat is the #1 enemy of any car at the track. It's a particular problem with turbocharged cars since they generate much more heat. The reason I sold my Evo was that I could not keep temperatures under control at the track, no matter what kind of cooling I threw at it. It's no fun when you can only do a few laps before a car overheats. That's when I learned that stock power, lightweight, and normally aspirated is the way to go if you're going to have a reliable track car. It looks like that turbo kit would be fine for the street, but not on the track...

FullBlown is already testing a prototype dual core radiator. Over twice as thick as the stock unit, which is a joke. They have pics in the force induction section.

wow thats pretty impressive, it didnt even look like they took much out of the interior, ive been looking for some good weight shavings and im gonna deffinitely have to look into that, i use my car for more DD work than i would ever use it for tracking and i deffinitely could live with the interior looking like that to shed off that much weight, coupled with some aftermarket race seats. And at certain angles it still looked like a stock interior. Thats also really great power at the wheels and with the car being that light it must be a blast regardless of where you drive it.

I see no issue with turbo's and Heat. I do think a super charger may be easier to drive though. |
