Taken mine to the 202-207 mark 2 or 3 times on the N3. Then last month I took it to 220kph on the N1. Felt exhilarating!! But yes, after that I thought to myself that if I had been snapped by a traffic cam I'd be SO screwed. So need to avoid doing that again. But atleast I can say I've done it :-)

If you guys keep pushing that hard we'll have to start a new thread called:

"Has your 86 gotten you locked up?"

I got nailed on the N1 last year with my corolla at 152km/h = R1250 fine - R625 Aarto discount - but for once it was a real emergency!

At the moment all fines are open to 50% discount if paid before end of jan, I think it is.

Just don't get caught at over 159kph - no admittance of guilt and you have to go to court.

One of my golf buddies got caught doing a 160kph in a 80kph zone in his OPC, got pulled over and they arrested him on the spot, he was lucky his dad knew a lot of people, bailed him out and the case got dropped, no fine, didn't lose his license nothing.

VERY lucky!! 40kph over the limit and you're screwed.

A buddy once got caught doing about 190 in a 120 zone on the bike - other than the lawyer fees and time at the court he ended up getting a R12k fine of which 50% was suspended as well as 12 months jail time suspended for 5 years.

That means if he got caught at 40kph over again he would have had to pay another R6000 and spend 12 months in jail.

Scary thing is, 160kph really isn't that fast in a modern car on the open highway.

And the really frightening part is how easily modern cars can get to 160km/h! And then we think about the bikes - 160km/h is in 2nd gear! But having said that... I want Koenigsegg brakes!!! Then it's almost OK!

137mph from a dead stop on an empty interstate highway at 4am on a Sunday morning. Went about 5 miles down the road to check for speed traps and traffic, then turned around and blasted it all the way back. Stupid thing to do on a public road for sure, but at least I stayed as safe as possible I guess. Was aiming for the full 147mph, but it was too slow to accelerate after 120 and I was getting nervous about cops. Highway Patrol in the US will absolutely fuck your life up if they catch you going that fast.

The car feels amazingly stable at that speed. I've driven other cars at those speeds and it always felt like it was just about to fly into the air or tear itself apart. This thing just plants itself on the road and doesn't make you feel panicky about it.

Either way, not gonna do it again. Just had to know what it felt like once.
