Very funny guys. I was using a hand pump so no sucking required. Gas attendant put in regular 87. Its tuned with Ecutek and I wasn't sure how well it was going to run. I just gave up and poured in a bottle of octane booster. I'm now hoping for the best.

Yup I have no choice but to leave it up to them. It took 9 years and 3 cars that take premium for them to screw up. I think that's pretty good odds if you ask me.

One tank isn't going to be worth all that effort IMHO. A lot of the cars (including mine) were delivered with 87 in them from the dealer. You can minimize it by filling it more frequently the next few times (maybe at 3/4 tank once, then at 1/2 tank a couple of times).
Caveat that with I don't know anything about your tune. By the way, I HATE WITH A PASSION that the 86 has a gas lid release on it. The gas cover is very flimsy as is and I think it will be an issue long term. Also, mine has actually refused to open on one occasion (had to pop it 4 times before it worked).

Label maker...put a decal on the gas cap...I know there's one on the door but once the cap is on the holder it's out of sight, on the cap will still be visible. Especially if it's white tape on the black cap.

Same thing in New Jersey, so fucking stupid. Years ago I had a serious arguement with a gas attendant because I wanted to pump my own, later on I found out I was in the wrong I have lived and learned and always fill up in PA before crossing over to no-mans land.

If you pull up with a motorcycle they just hand over the pump, no argument required.

That makes sense then. I wouldn't worry about it too much if it's just one tank and you take it easy. If it happens in the future, if there's a station with higher octane fuel (like 100), you can just mix some of that in there to help counter the 87.

Completely agree with what's been said, on a stg1 87 won't kill anything. Drive like a grandma, keep the rpms down and fill up on 93 a few times.
I just wanted to say that typically subarus have a drain plug in their gas tanks, I would expect the brz to have one as well but haven't checked. |

On top of that, most owners manuals do say that if premium isn't available the car can accept lower octane fuel as long as you keep the rpms down and get better fuel as soon as you can.

Personally never been a big fan of motorcycles since I flipped my brothers dirt bike at age 12, but I get why people love them. A whole lot of go-fast on not a big budget.
