No, I'm not joking. I'm sorry but as much as I enjoy it, it's just a car. I traded in an 11 year old Mazda Miata on my FR-S and the dealership gave me Kelly Blue Book "Very Good Condition" so I don't think I'm causing too much damage. For what it's worth, I don't do car shows!

I usually don't bother trying to keep my car clean on trips (which for me is anywhere from a 500 mile day trip, to a 2 week 6000+ mile drive acrosss the country and back. I always bring along window cleaner to keep the windshield clean (usually at every gas stop), as well as some car wash or quick-detail spray along for spot cleaning as needed. On the rare occasion the car gets extremely dirty or gets something out of the ordinary on it, I'll take it to a DIY spray car wash (but won't use the brush). I haven't used an automated car wash in 20+ years.

I'm guessing you've only had this car recently, otherwise you woudln't be asking this question haha. I haven't washed my car in 2 months 'since I stopped caring and mainly 'cause it's winter here. Good thing about letting a raven get dirty though, is that now it almost looks like an Asphalt at quick glance...

Hell yeah I wash my baby! I don't care how it gets done, but it does.

I stayed at a hotel one time and I took the liner out of the trash can. I then filled it up with hot water from the bath tub and some shampoo, and used a white wash cloth to clean my entire car, tires and all.

I made a nasty weather trip from Houston, TX to Dallas, TX

You cleaned your whole car with one wash cloth and shampoo? that sounds like a recipe for disaster on your paint... if you don't have any swirls or scratches, you definitely lucked out.

Personally I would just find a do-it-yourself car wash and hit it with a pressure washer once I'm at my destination. You can certainly bring your wash mitt and bucket and give it a more thorough cleaning if you like, but space is at a premium in this car so I don't know if I'd bother taking up all the space. Maybe just the mitt and some soap and a plastic bag.

Well the hot water and the small wash cloth worked pretty good. I didn't tear the paint up or anything.
When I got back home I went ahead and did a full detail as I would at home with all my supplies.

Oh yeah this was back in 2007 with my 04 Mustang GT. In the middle of winter time. The hot water was quite nice :-)

I have my car Opti-Coated and I have never had to touch the car with sponges or towels. I just go to a car wash and wash it with the wand. High pressure soap and then high pressure rinse. Looks like the day I bought it!

just did a 500 mile roundtrip with Wolf's "The Mask". Seems to work pretty well for protecting against bugs. It's no clear bra, but it's $30 instead of $700.
