The one time I was in Switzerland (1997) I noticed a good number of vintage cars, all in pristine condition. It's like traveling back in time.

I guess this is a result of a quiet strict law regarding cars over here. As soon as the car is older than 7 years, you have to show it to the "gouverment" (something like the DMV) every 2 years, and if it is in bad shape you are not allowed to drive it anymore on public roads. So either you take care of you car and it gets old (and still looks good) or you dont give a shit about it and your car will probably will be removed from the roads when it is 7-10 years old

All I can tell you is that the surname is Swiss/German. Now spelled Bitecofer but original spelling was Bittekoffer
