Dealerships are required to check that everything in the car is working properly including bluetooth devices and such. I work at a Toyota dealership and we are required to have phone specifically to test such things during PDI's and to troubleshoot problems. They actually require dealerships to have certain phones and it has to be one of the most recent models. We for example have an Iphone 4 just for this reason. But I guess it is possible a salesman or technician decided to do it with their phone or to just mess around.
