The way us aeronubs compare aerodynamic profile since the true frontal area is rarely reported is:
We usually take width x height convert to feet multiply by a typical figure of 0.81 to find the occupied space then you multiply the coefficient. Otherwise it's noticeably higher than cars where the true frontal area is reported. It's just an estimate so consider that. 2012 Camaro Width: 75.5 in. Height: 54.2 in. CofD: 0.37 FT86 Width: 1775mm (approx 69.88 inches) Height: 1285mm (approx 50.6 inches) CofD: 0.27 ((75.5 * 54.2) / 144) * 0.81 * 0.37 = 8.51668313 sq.ft. which is high for a low profile sportscar but not a boxy muscle car. ((69.88 * 50.6) / 144) * 0.81 * 0.27 = 5.37019065 which is good. I used Ecomodder's calculator but zeroed out the weight factors. At 120MPH the FT86 would have 63HP of aero drag while the Camaro has 100HP. That should tell you the difference right there. |

Not surprisingly, we came up with a similar delta.

The 0.81 correction is only for comparison with other cars with accurate frontal areas, not a correction of the actual numbers. Plus the difference didn't change. Also I prefer HP since it can give a better idea of the direct relationship between aero drag and top speed.
I didn't factor drivetrain losses or rolling resistance. Drivetrain losses increase the drag requirement by 16% alone. |

LOL, and it weights 3700lb +, right? Comparing muscle car to sport car is like apple to orange comparison.

Come on. GT and Forza are about as comparable to real world driving as porn is to sex.

I have a question; do you want a little sports car or a huge muscle car?
