They are all like that, in that they dont always line up perfect from the factory. The line between the hood and the bumper is curvy, not straight so its hard for the panel gaps to be absolutely consistent.

The worst offenders are BMW's their gaps between bodywork and front/rear bumpers are horrendous,

The best? Have a look at as many new model Hyundai I30's, they have an even more difficult to line up panel gap and are alwyas perfect.
Guess you guys are laughing but the panel gaps all round my mothers new I30 (Its called the ELANTRA GT over there) are the best i have ever seen on any car, Lexus included. Also the paint is so thick to the naked eye, much better than the thin stuff they are putting on our 86's

The 86 is beutifully engineered but built as cheaply as possible. To my simple eyes its got no better build quality than a Nissan Versa

I think its the hood... Get hood Dampers... The prop-rod only pushes up on that one side... Thats why you have that... its a very light weight hood and as such its flimsy... You could prolly flex it back... or it may fix itself over time... but fix the problem first... THE PROP-ROD.
