Sadly 2 out of 4 died in the SUV. 1 out of 2 of the idiot scion guys died. Too bad it wasn't both of them but hopefully the other will spend a long time in jail.

Hopefully this is a wake-up call for those people that say they only street race "smart". Public streets have way too many variables.

This is so, so sad. It also reinforces the fact that so many Americans believe putting themselves in a giant SUV makes them "safer" - it does not - in fact, SUVs are more injury and fatality-prone than sedans or most smaller cars. The old adage "put more metal between me and the others" is no longer true. Modern cars are so much better engineered than older models, with IIHS and NHTSA crash ratings published in addition to supercomputer analyses.

Unfortunately the government still allows a loophole for Stupid User Vehicles in the fuel economy averages, which effectively subsidizes SUVs.

Unless the picture of the Ford is at a really bad angle, I see no deployed air bags in there.

The Scion/tC hate on these forums is astonishing. I can only imagine how many 86's will be involved in equally stupid stunts in 7-10 years from now when teens can get into a used one for less than $10k. Seeing as the 86 is touted as a "sports car", it should be amusing to watch the carnage pile up.

My heart goes out to the family in the SUV, and I can only imagine what the teen in the tC is going through right now. He will have to live with his actions for the rest of his life, be it in jail, or elsewhere.

It's not only the TCs. It's Scion in general.
