I totally agree with the spedo, but it doesn't bother me. I hope that maybe in the future one of the tuners can turn it into a boost gauge for when I go turbo.

I don't find much to "hate" here. I mean if they had ONLY given us that analog speedo, I might find that a problem, but since the digital is very functional I really don't care.
I will agree that the tail pipes were too small, but the tips were easy to replace with the relatively inexpensive JDMs. I've never understood the complaints on the interior... I love the interior. The noise generator doesn't bother me and in stock form it's kind of nice to easily hear what the engine is doing. It can always be deleted if your mods make the car louder. This is pretty much a list of non-issues imo, which if that's all there is to complain about, that's awesome. |

I agree about not being happy with 1, 7 and 10. I think hate is a little too strong of a word. I certainly anticipate there'll be some changes in upcoming models. That will give all of us something to look forward to.

Yeah, the center console design with the lack of an armrest and the location of the cupholders is not very good.
Yeah, the gas tank could be a little bigger for touring. My Eclipse, which is even smaller with all wheel drive, has a bigger tank by 3 gallons. But mostly I don't care about this because I rarely fill my tank anyway to keep weight down and I rarely go on long trips. I agree with Rice_Classic about the clutch, it's just different and something to get used to. Sure, more feel would be nice but I didn't find it particularly bad on my test drive. I've felt some pretty awkward heavy, or light, or long clutches so at least it's not like that. And as Synack said, it can be adjusted somewhat. Yes, I wish it had a range display. Rice, you sound like an Apple guy when you say, "You don't need that. Just calculate it all in your head. That's part of the fun!" LOL I like the "T" design. It looks fine to me and I'm surprised so many people complain about it. I like the 86 logo, it looks cool and pays respects to its identity as TennisHyu said, and can be a conversation starter as Synack said. The noise generator... yeah, it's pretty stupid. I'd rather have a louder/better sounding exhaust. Like Yamaha tuned or something. And yeah, the stock North American tail pipes are a bit weak looking. I'd love to see a simple thick circular stainless steel design. And yes, I agree that the analog speedometer off to the side is useless and also agree with Rice_Classic's suggestion of putting oil temp and pressure gauges there instead to match the other side for styling at least. But my main hates/dislikes are the simple fact that Scion doesn't offer stuff like the Toyota 86's HID/LED headlamps and leather seats for the car, and they don't have a real navigation system available anymore/yet either.

Excellent photos!
Don't agree with all (I like the engine-turned plastic), but they are well reasoned. |

Honestly I agree with you on all those points and I would also add some myself but at the end of the day I'm still happy with my purchase. IMO there is no perfect car and the FRS/BRZ suited me best out of all other cars, new or used.

Am I the only one who's arm can rest naturally on the center console?
I would appreciate a flip down sunglasses holder and locking glovebox.

1. Threads about " flaws" in the frs/brz
2. See number 1 For 25k this car is a great buy and for a company to take a huge risk developing this car in a market where everybody wants 300 hp i think they did well If you want cupholders buy a corolla, im not thinking about the cupholder when im scaring myself around a corner and amazed at how well this chassis sticks to the ground... Bunch of whiners

I don't really have a strong opinion on this one. Yes, things could be improved.
All I know is its currently 5:02 PM EDT, and I am going to go drive my wonderful car home. Have a nice weekend, folks. |

I also think the cup holders are also hard to use. So I use the door panel cup holders for everything. Had a top come off, but never had a spill.
I also got a "complimentary multi-function electronic device and coin holder as a token of Scion's appreciation." Its good for holding the new giant phone I have, that won't fit in my pocket. When the arm rest comes out, I would think people will stop using those cup holders. I would like to see some better use of the tray under the AC/Heat control cluster... possibly a flip out cup holder? OR, the Timing Circuit from Back to the Future!

I forgot to mention one thing I really consider a cheap shot by Toyota and it really pisses me off. It's a minor thing but that's probably the reason it upsets me so much. They put an emergency brake handle boot on the car stitched with black thread that doesn't fit the interior theme at all and then provide one with red stitching as an optional extra. Boo on you Toyota!!!!
