It apparently is done for easier assembly in the factory. I believe it allows connecting the pistons to the rods which can then be connected to the crank as opposed to the old designs which require the crank+rods be preassembled and then the pistons/pins are connected to the rods via holes in the side of the block.

The EZ36R engine has the same rod design.

I also hate locked Facebook crap, I don't even have a FB account.

I went on my wife's Facebook to see what you are talking about.

I think that you are wondering why the big end of the con rod is 'rotated.'

The con rod bearing is relatively large compared to the piston bore. In order for the pre-assembled piston and rod (without the bearing cap) to be 'stuffed' into the bore - the big end of the conrod must pass thru the bore to. Clocking the big end narrows the big end of the rod just enough to fit thru the bore during assembly.

And how people have heaped crap on the EZ36 hey! Now we know, the EZ36 rods are likely to be the best EZ series rod ever if this BRZ rod is anything to go by - 20psi boost on stock parts sheeeesh

I love how they angle the rods on the big end so they are easier to work on.
