Echoing others, the PS4 tire has a lot of road noise, which is especially noticeable on more abrasive asphalt surfaces.

On smoother roads it's not so bad.

What road noise? I'm using 17" sottozero tires. Didn't notice any with the stock primacy tires either.

Gotta agree with what a lot of people are saying here too. I've got the ps4 and there's quite a bit of road noise.

same here, just threw on 215/50 set a few hours ago and road noise has lowered by a lot

Road noise is the same or worst than 1st gen. My first reaction was worst, but it is about the same overall now.

Motor and intake noise is much quieter in 2022 vs 2017, I guess that is why they put a sound generator.

Drivetrain noise are all still present (throw-out bearing, transmission, low rpm tractor noise)

Edit : i am compairing 2 cars back to back on the same winter tires.

It seems PS4 tires are noisier than PS4S tires and my guess would be road noise was not a priority when Subaru asked Michelin to supply a more performing tire.

I dont think its as bad as people make it seem.
At low speeds its pretty similar to any econobox, it is somewhat loud at highway speeds but not noticeably louder than any econobox i dont think (at least none that i have been...the most recent i can remember would be my old Scion iM)

My X1 is quieter around town obviously but at highway speeds its surprisingly loud in comparison. I never really noticed it until i had driven the 86 a fair amount and gotten used to the sound levels. I think it might be tire related noise because its a different kind of noise than in the 86.

I cant imagine the second gen being any worse than the first gen.

If you are concerned about road noise I’d simply suggest giving it a test drive… as others have said the 86 is an affordable sports car that aims at providing a connected driving experience, and will be noisier than a more « comfort » or luxury oriented vehicule. Our other car is an Outback, my gen 1 brz is certainly noisier at high speeds, but the driving experience more than makes up for it, so I really don’t care… the brz/86 is the kind of car that gets you to turn the radio volume down so you can hear the mechanical music better …:-)

To be honest, the road noise in my case quieted down after 300mi.
I just swapped the PS4 tires to Conti DWS 06 Plus in the factory 215/40r18 and they're night and day different.

Glad to hear that. I am having the dealership swap out the Michelin’s for the DWS 06+ Conti’s at delivery. Not sure what to do with the OEM Michelins at this point.

I ordered a Limited/AT in Silver early October….still waiting for a VIN.

Idk? Keep them or sell them. They're worth a few Benjamins at least

OK, did my first decent highway drive.

I am coming from a 2013 that had a catless header and a track suspension, i.e. not the quietest car in the world.

Holy cow is the new car quieter. It was like being in an anechoic chamber. OK, maybe that's a slight exaggeration. Also worth noting that I am on winter tires.
