Overfenders didn't come with hardware?

i've only had rivnuts come loose in one circumstance. where i was using it as part of a tailgate assist, and the first part of the travel of the assist dropped the 30# tailgate 5" until the assist attached with the 2 rivnuts 'caught up'.

Just passing on a tip given to me by someone who has literally done dozens of these installs

One other thing to think about is that with rivets, you can always upgrade to rivnuts latter on if that's your choice

once the rivnuts are in there's no going backwards to rivets

even with rivnuts, you probably wont be able to just pop them on and off willy nilly. my flares are sealed to the body with sealant so that water doesn't spray from the cracks leaving crazy spiderweb water streaks down the side of your car

If he has installed a dozen, doesn't mean he is good, just means he has installed a dozen. He may not have a good rivnut tool so pop rivets are easier.

Personally I think pop rivets would look like a hack job as opposed to using a rivnut and a nice finished fastener.

yep. most hardware stores now stock chrome or decorative stainless bolts in a number of sizes. 15 years ago, i had to resort to shady obscure websites for parts like that...

IMO welding the rears is more to restore the uni-body. Before being cut, the rear external fenders are connected to the liners that are connected to the uni-body that are connected to etc..... I'm sure it wont ruin the car if you don't weld them but it'd be better. You could pop rivet the slices or even through bolt but welding would be best. Shouldn't cost that much even you out source the welding. Metal is thin so a 110 welder does it easy.

For sealing up,, 3M 5200 adhesive and sealant, stuff lasts forever used on boats Finish with undercoat. New fender liners help as well.

Oh yea,, for attachment +1 on rivnuts.
