Instructing in what? Oh, I hope it's not the care and feeding of batteries -

And don't tell me it won't work. I've been using this battery for 8 years. And like I said, it lasts two to three years. And it weighs a hell of a lot less than the OEM battery.
Might not work with E85 in Canada or Chicago in the winter but it works fine here.

Sure, it work for two to three years because you're slamming the piss out of it every time you start. It's only expected to last for five as a standby battery for UPS and emergency lights. Don't be disappointed in that little thing.

Yup
Serious.

There are 3 big batteries and 2 small batteries under the cover. One of the big batteries run the car. The other batteries run the supercharger. The dead ones make great door stops.

I keep watching the price of Antigravity Batteries (lithium ion direct replacement batteries for cars, amongst other things) hoping the price will drop. List for one for the 86 is $800 and some change.

Besides being much lighter (14lbs) it is also really 2 batteries with a "self jump" feature (basically a built-in extra battery).

A battery sitting in a modern car will slowly drain from all the electronics in the car that continue to draw power from it, even when the car is turned off. Just having keyless entry means something is using power to monitor for the signal.

I doubt it would take two years to drain the battery. It's likely just a few weeks.

I wonder why lithium batteries aren't more popular for cars. I have a 48V 13aH lithium battery on my ebike. Only cost 200 bucks. And I've recharged it at least 500 times. Still good as new.

I think it may have something to do with their tendency to burst into flame.

To keep us guessing while slow walking to the fact that you're running the eSC is, well...

That stuff is still pre-production at best. I'd say you're doing great to get two years out of those batteries. Apples to lampshades.

I would imagine it's the price. I can buy a lifetime of replacement standard batteries for the cost of one of the lithium ones.

Even Tesla's use standard 12V battery that if it dies, you can't get into or start the car. In fact, you can't even get access to the dead 12V battery without using the "emergency" procedure to open the "Frunk" and then you have to remove a whole bunch of plastic trim pieces to charge it.

Now, Tesla could build in a "bypass" that would pull power from the battery pack to recharge the battery should it go dead, but they don't do that. The 12V charges from the battery pack only when the car is "started".
