Depends on the car company.

The Lamborghini Countach'es were all sold before they were officially announced.

A Lotus dealer I had a pleasure talking to told me a few things about "Type 131"
(codename for Emira) a couple of years before it was announced.

At the same time, a lot of local dealers of "mass market" car brands in my area
are literally owned by the same company, so they are Best Buy in a way indeed.

I will say that Lambo and lotus are not like usual dealerships.

Its not unusual for very expensive cars to be sold out to collectors.

Lotus guys will know a lot more because its a tiny product line aimed at enthusiasts, I would of thought.

Toyota will be dealing to mum and dad purchasers 95 percent of the time, they wont know shit about the enthusiast cars until they get given a course on it a month before release!

edit: which I guess is what you were saying!

If I had lambo money, I’d expect the dealer to know a thing or two about what they’re selling. Otherwise, how will Joe millionaire feel special about his new toy?
