winter tires are an excellent point that must be factored in.

if you drive in/on snow at all, you need to change the tires--either for all seasons, or account for having the space for a set of dedicated winter tires.

the factory tires are summer only. i genuinely tried for the first snow fall in 2014(it was less than 0.5" snowfall that day, barely a dusting), figuring everyone else was a much more incompetent driver than me. i made it in to work by shear luck that the entire drive there was flat or downhill from my house. and then immediately got stuck in the middle of all the parking spaces where the asphalt just barely pitched together(so gradual i had never noticed it pitched until that day) for drainage to a manhole cover 100' away. the summer tire rubber hardens and becomes the equivalent of pvc pipe on top of snow. despite it looking like there's grip from the mild tread, there's just nothing-- no amount of feathering the clutch, enabling/disabling traction control, trying a different gear, or working it back and forth got me even a half inch further.. i got out while in first gear and watched the car turn the rear tires at idle for a second while i called my brother with the tow rope to get me back home until i could order some different tires. because the trip back home was more uphill, we ended up leaving the tow rope attached the entire way back. and it was good to. i would have been stuck at least 3 more times...

After owning mine for over a year now, here's a couple things you should know:

This is not a quiet, torquey, plush, soft riding car. It's completely fine as a daily, but if you value these things over what I'm gonna say below, this is probably not your car. That said, a test drive never hurt lol

The experience. That's with this car is selling you. Lightweight, rwd, manual transmission. Handling over power. You can drive the hell out of this car, and it will reward you. The engine is happiest near redline, and the chassis is very communicative at the limit. The transmission seemingly shifts smoother the harder you drive. And what's great about only having 200hp is that you can use all of it on the street without killing yourself or getting a ticket in 5 seconds.

Here's a tip if you go for a test drive: put aside the performance numbers and just see if you like the car.

Oh and I average 28mpg btw

This here is the problem - most people wanting a sporty car are actually looking for the "highest trim with the most powerful engine" car. The Twins are nothing like this. They are dedicated sports cars first and foremost.

This!

It's sure does sound odd, but I agree 100% - my best shifts are at 7000 RPM with full throttle.

So much this - more power is useless if you can't actually use it and enjoy it! Plus this car is super fun at low speeds, so you don't really need more power.

I know it's really weird. Honestly I think the trans is very underrated as far as sports cars go. Yeah it's a little clunky around town, but damn is it good when you get everything spinning.

Thanks for the replies everyone. After searching i found a semi local dealer offering a 2020 limited PP 6 speed MT for 26800, I may go check that one out. It’s silver, was hoping for WRB, but the price is good I think.

Very well said! That's the best advice ever, for any car and especially for the BRZ!

I was going to buy a last year new car in 2018 it was a 2017 gray one no pp. I got the dealer down to 23400 and went to finance it and they did not honor the 2018 promotional percentage (expected this) but they wanted to give me a 9.8% apr.. I had almost excellent credit. I think the promo was 0.9%?

I walked and went 95 miles away to get my 2018 50th anniversary pp for 27658 out the door and 2.4% apr.

I suppose ymmv with the dealer you are trying to make a deal with. I knew the first dealer was a pos for a long time.

As for the car I averaged 28/29 with bald tires and 25/26 when I got new tires. I do not try to get good mpg. I pull hard from most traffic lights and daily drive 80 miles. Of which 20 is pure mountain backroads (kept at high rpms) and 60 is a highway (a lot of hard red light pulls to just above the speed limit) and a bit of interstate. The car handles amazing on the backroads I push it harder everytime I take the hairpin. There is a transition from a patch in the road which causes a bump mid corner and the car acts like it isn't even there. You feel the bump hard (thanks pp suspension) but the tires never notice the difference.

I have driven 500 miles round trip in one day to buy a fuel tank for a na miata. It wasn't super comfortable but it is fine. I've never had real issues with trunk space I've carried gun cases and a tool bag and large socket set most of the time. It will fill up quickly but I've never had issues taking the garbage to the dump or carrying anything I needed for my construction job I had.

Not my car is not a daily driver because I have a company van for my new job so I find a reason to go for a drive instead of taking care of the things I need to do around the house. I miss driving it everyday.

Wore the stock tires to literally bald in 27k honestly they were shot around 25k never had issues with the rubber at cold temps but the coldest it gets is around 19°F once or twice a year. Not much snow here but when it did it was difficult but not impossible to get around.

I've put a catback on it and the transmission bushing. The car sounds mature not raspy or anything I found a greddy v3 for 360 bucks used.

I put some stats from fuelio. I have recorded every fillup. And yes I know the fuel pump in the car must hate me because I fill up 11.5gals most of the time. But if it dies then I get to start putting bigger fuel parts on .

Anyway I bought the car on July 8th 2018 and have loved every day of it. Now it is a weekend warrior.
