USB adapter for aftermarket HU

The install was perfectly fine however an adapter is needed to retain the use of the OEM USB slot. There were two that said fit my car, one was a METRA AX-TOYUSB, the other was a Spiral audio UX-0007. i want to buy the same HU, if it's possible, can you test if USB 2 can read AAC file from an iPhone/ipod (want to use an old iphone as a music player)? and does play list option available from the HU? thanks!

Just wanted to add on to this since this thread keeps popping up for me and none of the aforementioned adapters work. I have the 2015 BRZ Premium model with navigation and need the AY-TOYUSB model to connect the stock USB location to aftermarket head unit.
