I would expect the '18 announcement any time now because training opens up for it next month.

A lot of us don't care for what the actual changes are going to be (if any) and we're not even waiting for the tS, we just want a MY18 so you're not already buying a 1 year old car.

Unless I'm misunderstanding, this is a weird rationale.

If there aren't any changes between the 17s and 18s, then you're not buying a "one year old car" by buying a 17. They've still been manufacturing them until probably about now.

Yea you're right on it being a weird leap of logic as the actual physical age for most '17 new cars currently on dealer lots wouldn't even be close to a year. But people aren't exactly 100% rational, we're emotional, and that peace-of-mind knowing you got the absolute newest is what some people want.

To each their own, there are no 'right' answers as long as you feel good with what you buy.

You probably did better than I did price wise, although I couldn't complain on the deal I got.

Well being Scion they wouldn't touch the price of the car so I paid the $30K (normal Canadian price) sticker on it. I did however get $4K more than my trade in was booked at, window tint, spoiler and clear bra for free and TRD sway bars, exhaust, drop in and RSR lowering springs all for $1K installed.
All in, I "saved" about $7K making the actual cost of the car with all the things I would have done to it anyway $23K.

When it comes to used car value, say you're looking to buying a used car in the year 2020, you're looking at two cars, one's a 2017 BRZ and ones a 2018 BRZ, imagine all other things being equal otherwise, which car will command a higher price, the one that says it's a 2017 or the one that says it's a 2018 (never mind that they may have been back to back on the production line).

I'd say the person buying a BRZ in this case likely knows enough/has done enough research to know that they can just figure out when a car was manufactured, or approximately when.

But my earlier point is mostly moot now since the 2018's come with new stuff (new HU, new blinker one touch, and some kind of new lighting).
