Next day horror.
I tried to clean it off and it's not going away. Any tips for this one? I have no idea what to look for. "Rust Converter Remover" is not really helpful.

If it is just on the surface (which it seems) just get some light rubbing compound and see if it will buff off. If you clear coated over it then break out the sand paper and start again. You may be able to cut through the clear coat with a light wet sandpaper or better yet go to a craft or hobby shop and pick up a set of progressively finer sanding sticks. They would have the side benefit of levelling out your touch up a bit. Just take it slow and gentle.

The front and sides of mine look like it took on a dragon. Or two.

Took quite a bit of elbow grease, but I finally got it. My brother had some light rubbing compound but that didn't work out. Ended up using his clay bar and that worked out, but took a while.

It's gonna come back in time, the paint is contaminated with the rust oxide farther than the spot. you need to sand a wider swath, use rust neutralizer brush or spray, sandable primer, spray paint with paint match, then automotive clear. A lot of work and patience is needed but done right it won't come back.I use the match spray from here, been using it for years on my Landcruiser and 86 with amazing matching. Good luck!
