That's what I mean by them supporting the site you post on.
Exactly the same as Monistat paying promotional consideration to The Price is Right.

And...

Many of the venders here (both large and small) are the very people that developed the products they sell. Who cares if they have it made elsewhere or deliver that product through a drop shipment? It is not our place to question or dictate how they run their business.

And...

The better venders (we know who they are) are available to answer questions and offer assistance even when they are not selling a product. Hell, I have seen some talk people out of buying something that was just not right for the application and that is some first level customer service shit!

And...

Many of them participate in the social aspects of the forum as well as the technical. I would call some of them my cyber friends and I like to support my friends and hope that they would support me.

And...

Most of the venders here are pretty thoroughly vetted by now. Posting advertising or product info here is not just a matter of paying a fee and doing whatever you want. They have requirements and rules that they must follow or risk having their posts pulled or outright ban. There is also the review sub that allows people to voice their opinion on a vender be it good or bad. Joe's internet speed shop in Iwillfuckyourcarup Indiana can do as they please without us ever knowing about their practices.

So...

There are many reasons to support the good venders here. If there is a vendor, with a product I want, that is on here, helps others, shares knowledge, participates and overall is an upstanding and responsible sponsor I am more than happy to drop 10 or 15% over someplace that is unknown or possibly even shady.

But...

If, as Shaky said, a vender just uses the site as a big billboard ("Hey look at the kool knob we made. Only $49.99" "Bump" "Bump" "bump" "Bump") and that is it then I will indeed shop elsewhere. Those venders probably don't make many sales though. My use of a vender is based upon more than just the fact they advertise here.
