I believe the Grimmspeed is/was considered the "best". There was a big development thread going on here for a while. If you have $330 burning a hole in your pocket go for this.

If not, I would go for something like the Perrin Inlet Hose or Mishimoto Induction Hose paired with a drop in filter from Perrin or K&N. Should run about $150-ish.
Don't think anybody was calling anybody "incompetent" nor "retard". If you feel that dressing up the engine bay is worth $300+ then yes it is a good mod. If you are looking for performance then it is not a great investment when looking at the gains per dollar. Much of the hype about intakes is driven from the crowd that did the improvements to cars that actually needed it or the fact that it is indeed something that gives great visual impact so it MUST improve performance.

He has a 17 which already has a larger hose and filter area. Any gains that the 13-16s would get from such are greatly reduced and again the benefits are only cosmetic in nature. Actually don't think there are many drop ins out there for the 17s yet.

You clearly don't understand what "value" means. If you get something for 1/4 of the price, with half (and in many cases, it's closer to 3/4) the gains of something else, that's a value. As far as cleaning up the bay, a $2 rubber plug and a hose clamp, coupled with a 12v plug will clean up the sound tube. Also, dunno where you're getting $80 for a filter, most are under $60, and even more are under $50.

This is the only one as far as I know:
http://www.frsport.com/Blitz-59624-S...p_1475641.html

The 2017 MT is the only one with a different sized filter. The 2017 Automatic uses the same filter as the previous years.

Just to be sure I'm on the same page as you, are you talking about this parts:

I think the 2nd and 3rd are the same one is cheaper maybe to the clearance or the color.

Thanks,

Ah yes good point on the MT and AT. I keep forgetting that.

I had the Grimmspeed intake on my 2017 BRZ. Again, sounds nice, doesn't change engine bay much except removes sound tube. Don't have to remove the bumper but again power gains are not noticeable.

Current state: I just removed the Grimmspeed intake and put the stock airbox back in, with a Perrin inlet tube and drop-in filter. Works great, inexpensive, and so far this is my favorite combo (stock box, drop-in filter, Perrin inlet tube).
Why did you remove the Grimmspeed and go back to the Perrin inlet tube + drop in filter?

Yes, those are the parts I am talking about. There are many options here:

http://www.ft86speedfactory.com/inta...-tubes-82.html

http://www.ft86speedfactory.com/inta...ilters-88.html

It seems these parts might not fit on a 2017, though.

They could have at least used a decent looking example for the photo. I'd be annoyed if I opened the box and saw that.

OP, why are you still considering an intake? As others have said, your 17 has more improvements to the intake system than any aftermarket intake (so far) has, and with only one (TRD may have an oiled filter) filter so far, save your money.

A cold-air intake is a waste of money without FI anyway. Toss this on the do later pile.

Ok, then I won't change and will save money as many of yours suggested (which I need for wells and tires )

Thanks,
Those are listed for the 13-16 FR-S/BRZ. You have a 17 86.
