what do you mean laptime is meaningless

this isn't a drag strip, this is the ring! 170 turns.

also the problem with lightweight cars is that it's harder to drive them at max speed on highspeed courses because it's just so damn scary to go into corners without much braking :/

Nope, nothing to brag about... and?

If I really do care about numbers, I would of chosen used M3, GC, WRX, EVO, Mustang, S2k, Supra, MR2, 350Z & all other number oriented cars.

stock tires + damp and a laptime of 9.09 is just as expected, or maybe a couple small seconds slower. But I dont know how damp it was..
They reckon 8.50 with good tires. Just as predicted in my opinion.

I tought the 86 would be somewhere between 8.43-8.50 depending on tire compond. (down to 8.43 on Z1 star specs, and up to 8.50 on good high performance summer tires)
My estimates were based on GT5 times and looking at times from other cars.

Lets be real.
NSX 8:38
S2000 8.39

There was no chance of the 86 beating those cars. Or being very close.
8.43 or faster would not be achievable even if the 86 had very sticky road tires.
Cars like Civic Type R, and Mini Cooper S are around 8.50

There are several factors when it comes to Nordschleife laptimes. Not just weather, but there is also different drivers. Even good drivers can easily have 5 sec +/- compared to each other..

Hah, I voted >9:10 way back when since I didn't really care if it was fast.

BTW, here's the old prediction thread.

They had a better race team. They didn't have close the fastest laps in either group. They just executed better over the course of 24hrs.

Yupp.. I remember that thread.. I voted 8.40-8.49 (with some of the best road tires). But I never tough the bone stock 86 with Primacy HP tires would do 8.49 or faster.
I have no idea what people were smoking when guessing 8.29 or faster...

They were guessing 86 will get special made tires just like S2k

I think a lap time around Suzuka or Tsukuba would be more meaningful.

Not bad for a 200 hp car in a high speed track.
