I don't know- I guess if you put a big V8 with a high COG you totally change the nature of the car, but say you stick a N/A Subaru boxer 6 in there (if you could- just for sake of argument) and the COG is still very low and you still have a boxer. I think that'd be close enough. The nature of the car remains the same at least.

Unless of course that boxer doesn't have an 86mm bore and 86mm stroke.

I would call it anything but a Model T. The common term is T Bucket which is decidedly not what it was called when the few original parts rolled off the line.

No I do not think that is proper either. A virtually hand built car should never be called a "production" vehicle.

See, now there is that whole "nature of the car" thing again. Even if maintaining all the original aspects it is still no longer a "86". It is an 86 chassis but certainly not an 86.

Sunbeam Alpine + v8 = Tiger
Auto Carriers Ltd. + v8 = Cobra

They didn't call them the same thing once it was done.

I actually would very much like to drive a v8 swapped twin one day to see how differently it does handle.

Well, I have had swapped cars. And on the title, it said what the car "used" to be. Anyway, I can understand what you are talking about.

But, for conversations sake, I believe that the impala with hydro's, is still an impala. The stock engine is usually just dressed up, not swapped. You need weight upfront for juice. And the batteries in the trunk too. I used to be in the Lowrider scene... Biscuit tuck velour, candy paint, true wire wheels, (where is my lead hammer?) and hydros all put into a Chevy. Or maybe, just maybe a Cadillac. If you rolled anything else, you would get clowned! (ford, pontiac, and buick owners LOL)

And, what would you call a Twin with a swap? I would call it faster or a failure!

But what would a twin be with a Honda J-series in it? That's what's really important here.

As long as the engine sits in the same location and the major suspension points are not seriously modified it's the same car as far as I'm concerned.

Must be the difference between those that take their cars to the track on Saturday vs those that get coffee.
