That could work, depending on how big the part is and how close it is to heat i highly doubt it will melt, but it could slowly deform over time, iv heard of people 3d printing intake piping with no issued, personally i would never trust a printed part for a long term mechanical component, but it works. under the hood ABS should work, anything outside would have to be PLA which has a lower melting temp, but ABS fades and deteriorates because of the sun and weather, PLA doesnt.

fwiw, the intake runners on the GTLM Viper, were rapid prototype...SLS process, but we ran them a lot, and I don't know if they ever went to a metal runner. The SLS was quick to print, as they reworked the design. Once Roush had it sorted, I never saw the top of the intake cover off again, but I wasn't on the pit crew.
