I have not - been with Tires23 since my first car. Never really had to go elsewhere but since I moved to Scarborough a few years ago, I might give Wheels Direct a chance. Thanks for the suggestion.

However, you do realize for most of the industry, all inclusive isn't the standard right?

If by industry standard you mean gwai lo then I guess you're right. Wheels Direct and Tire 23 are asian and they quote you a price that's paid by cash.

BTW for Wheels Direct you do get a printed receipt.

I paid by card at Tires23, same price as was quoted for cash... and I had a receipt.

Disclaimer: I'm Canadian-Chinese.

I don't understand what race has to do with it. Some folks like to do business the old fashioned way, some like to do it the new age way.

No shady business or racial profiling here. Just good practice.

Race because I know Wheels Direct is Malaysian (they used to let me read their car magazines that they got from back home) and Tire23 is Hong Kong Chinese (at least when it first started, I know who started that business and it was later sold off).

I was just making a generalization that most Asian shops these days are still doing business in what you call "the old fashion way". And don't be surprised why they would prefer to deal with cash.

But if you ask my granny she would say the crazy price breakdown in general makes her feel like the business is trying to nick and dime her. Nothing new age about price breakdowns in Canada as I've lived here for 27 years. I'm pretty sure VisiCalc was invented in the 70's, and bean counters existed even before then.

I know tons of shops Asian or not that prefer to do cash. Yeah, it's probably to cheat taxes but it's not because it's Asian. Cheat taxes is cheating taxes.

Tires23 gave me a receipt - I paid using credit card so I can get points.

EDIT: By old fashioned way, I was referring to their method of quoting out-the-door prices as opposed to a lot of shops which quote the product price and not all inclusive.

I know what you mean and I've re-wrote my post. Doesn't really change my perspective tho.

oops actually nope.. group buy pricing was less, 725 was the price i was originally quoted and it went down when i actually picked them up because Chris honored the gb price for me.

This was when quoted in February and at the time Bridgestone did have a sale on.
