![]() Why don't you look into just getting a quieter exhaust so you don't need to drive it at 2500rpm forever. Don't they make something called the Q300? BTW droning on the hwy at cruising speeds really sucks you'll get a headache. |

I'd only put that on if I know i'm going to be going long distance, for example driving to the US. I looked into the Q300 but people said it's only slightly louder than stock. Im currently running a GReddy sp Elite which was apparently a bit louder than stock too. Needless to say, it was way too quiet, basically no difference. The only thing I am worried about is highway without the silencers. I wish I could sit in a N1 first but nobody I know has one. |

I actually coulda got a Q300 for cheaper than the N1. But the N1 is newer and the Q300 is being shipped from a seller in the US. |

Yes it will drone, however some owners report less drone with UEL headers. So either just use the silencers for highway trips or choose/save up for other options more tame options such as Corsa, Perrin (resonated), Dezod or Q300.

I have a muffler delete. My friend in Bolton with an FR-S has the N1. He told me my car is louder than his. I've heard him pull up to redline and I think the sound level itself is about the same, but I noticed my muffler delete has a more "mature" sound than the N1; a bit deeper. I personally think the N1 adds some unattractive rasp to the exhaust note that makes it sound more like a Civic, whereas I have ZERO rasp. I do get some drone, but I really don't mind it. And lots of backfire, which I DO like. I've always driven loud cars so it's kind of a preference, and I'm used to it. I should also say I'm also all-stock except for the muffler delete, so if I decide to go catless in the future, I would definitely invest in an axle-back instead. Catless AND muffler delete would be too loud for me.
Perhaps I personally am the wrong one to ask, because I am not a huge fan of the look of "cannister" style exhausts anymore, so the N1 has too much of a "boy racer" look for me. But that's personal preference. In terms of the 5-0, my car is pretty loud and I haven't even had a second glance from a cop ye, and I've had this muffler delete on the car for over 2 years now. The one time I did get pulled over (for speeding), he didn't even mention the exhaust. I also heard rumours that Peel Police are cracking down on loud exhausts; I have recently driven RIGHT NEXT TO a Peel Police cruiser in traffic and he didn't so much as glance. What has been said before is true; loud or not loud, don't drive like an asshole and you won't call any more attention to yourself. There's lots of loud cars out there (aftermarket or just shitty old cars with an exhaust leak) and not every single one of them gets pulled for noise.

Currently running the Berk dual muffler deleted pipes and have no troubles with cops. Been told it was similar loudness to the N1 (if not louder).
I once rev'd up to 4-5k range around a cop (Yes i'm quite ballsy), and he didn't bat an eye. Only time I got pulled over was at night and a ride check. Other than that enjoy the car, you'll get used to the drone. |

This is exactly what I don't understand with the aftermarket. I watched that four part XaCar YouTube video on 86/BRZ exhausts and almost all of them have this rasp sound to it, like it needs a cough drop or something.

I thought I was going to hate the N1 after I installed it and took it for a ride... I looked at my brother in the passenger seat and said "dude, no way this is way too loud." but after about 3 months, I'm used to it and it doesn't even feel like the car has changed.
If you keep it right about 3k rpm the exhaust is barely noticeable. So when you see a cop, make sure you watch your gauge. Only at above 4K does it start to get loud. I find if the engine is under load (say like going up a steep hill) it gets droney and buzzy. Overall one of the best sounding exhaust in my opinion though. |
