Who has time for this break in thingy?
People say you can run lower grade gas on this car, I say break in is just bs !!

On serious note I always followed break in period on every car I owned but this one. Just drove like I stole it since day one.

Why are you teabagging your car in the first place? Put 'em back in your pants and stop this unhealthy sexual fetish.

It's not 3K. It's in the owner's manual and has been discussed here at considerable length, including in this thread. If you weren't so busy putting your balls on your car, you might know that.

Anybody who drives the car. It's not like you can skip driving the first 1000 miles, and driving like a douche during that period isn't going to save you any significant time getting where you need to go.

I got my car with 100 miles so in my mind, the most crucial part of the consumer the break in had passed.

But, I still followed the factory break-in recommendations; under 4K (switching between 4th, 5th and 6th somewhat often when cruising) for the first 1,000 miles. Except once when I hit the rev limiter for the first time at about 500 miles. In my mind, an open freeway is considered an emergency

I changed the factory oil fill (and MT fluid) at about 2,800 miles.

I was paranoid as well but after researching and finding there are so many different theories to breaking in a new motor (with so many valid contradicting points) and accepting that the most crucial break-in period is done at the factory, I was able to let go (kinda) and enjoy the car. And actually sleep at night lol

Just my .02. Now, go enjoy your car!

usually I let the car sit from cold start till idle goes down to normal sound before actually driving. this allows oils and other fluids to go where they need. after than I try to drive at normal speed till I see that the car temp has reach its usual than I drive however i want.

as far as guide lines go, the 4k thing.. lol let's just say you pretty much already broke it in. shouldn't worry about that any more

Alternatively, next time you buy a $30,000 device, consider reading the Owner's Manual. This isn't like buying a $50 DVD player where the worst that happens is you don't discover the extra features you never knew about...
...but that too.

The problem is that the manual is written by lawyers so it should be ignored. It just exists for some bizarre, unknown liability reason and has nothing to do with the actual operation of the car.
The break in process is fiction because I read on the internet that...
