TARGA! TARGA! TARGA! followed by the resounding echo of LOUVERS! LOUVERS! LOUVERS! Must have them both. I'd even take the new "nose" and tolerate a few extra electronic gizmos of the unneeded variety if it came with both of these.

Backseat in the FRS is already a torture chamber, making the car a convertible would be like inventing "windboarding" for the back-seat occupants; you could drive ISIS captives around until they broke and spilled the beans.
Other than that yeah, great idea. |

This thread just became pointless. Mazda just bitch-slapped and slammed the door on any other company competing in the sports-car convertible market.
This is now for sale:

Sorry, just not for me...your opinion may and can vary. Plus no ability to have louvers!

I think its a little too late for the 86 seeing how its already reaching its midlife cycle.
However, maybe a drop a roadster S-FR will be in the cards? |

Because Toyota and Subaru had to cover a wider spectrum of customers, the FRS got a bit diluted in its purpose. The result is that the FRS is a so-so car with an amazing chassis. I am OK with that, and glad that I got to experience the car, but I would not buy another if they are still around when I finish with this one. The mixed parentage of the car means that I have not developed any loyalties towards Subaru or Toyota when the time comes to buy my next car. One thing to consider is that in Canada the Miata is a 15k price jump from the FRS by the time it lands in the driveway (32K for FRS vs 45K for Miata ), so from a value standpoint the FRS is not a bad deal. But it is not a great car. |

It's just, for me, they would have to change the car substantially before I would own one, although they are going in the right direction with the Targa (if it were manual). At least with the Targa it doesn't look like a cartoon bathtub on wheels. Now, that said, I would (and it pains me to say this) take the Miata Targa over the S-FR.
