not really complements but...

I remember being asked what Subaru motor I swapped into my car once.

I also had a guy ask me what size turbo I had after we did a little pull (in mexico on a closed course in case you are wondering) and he was shocked to find out it was NA and told me he thought all Subaru's had turbos lol.

simple solution is to turbo that Subaru motor

I've had two people in the span of a week tell me that my BRZ is a "nice hotrod!".

Never really thought of the BRZ as a hotrod... I told each of them that it's "probably the slowest hotrod out there but it turns a corner real nice."

I pulled up to a clients office, parked right out front. Started working on a network issue when a lady walked in and in a very enthusiastic voice said "who's sassy little car is that?"
My reaction was a slow, simultaneous left hand face palm and sheepishly raised right hand. There was a guy in the office that spoke up and told her that I probably didn't want my car being referred to as "sassy".

I have never felt so emasculated in my life, although I'm sure she meant it as a compliment....

Not really an odd compliment in general but just funny, to me:

I play in a coed softball league and I drove my new FRS to a game. My GF (who plays on the team) announced to everyone, "Everyone needs to check out Steve's new car!" Then one of the girls said, "Wow! Is that Steve's??? I was just telling everyone about this really badass car in the parking lot!"

Never had a car anyone called "badass".
