Not sure what it costs, but with a pack of snap together wood flooring, a template, and a jigsaw, this would be easy to accomplish. A pack of flooring would give you plenty to screw it up at least a couple times too.

This is, if you want to ruin your car with all that extra weight. ;-)

I would just use the click together fake hardwood flooring. Light, durable and it could be cut and then just clipped together in the car. Piece of cake. I think that is what is in the picture actually.

I helped a friend make this. We used hard wood flooring, the fake wood, interlocking kind. Ran the boards front to rear.

It's "safe", but things in your trunk will slide around.

Because the OEM trunk space with the seats folded down is made of mostly collapsable material in the event of an accident.

Oh brave Viking, surely your bravery and showing no fear will enter you into Valhalla.

Or maybe people think getting a Darwin award is an actual prize.

As for me, I've known people who've died from lesser accidents. I value safety and the features offered by newer cars.

To illustrate further, you're putting hardwood beams directly behind the front driver and passenger seats and leaving not leaving room for it to crumple. Those tools and the spare tire in the back at least have somewhere to go if they're pushed around.

Look I'll be honest that I have also thought about adding a wood trunk liner to my car, but the immediate thought I had after was "what if I get in a wreck?".

I'll be honest. I was poo-pooing you until just now. Installed longitudinally, that makes some sense. Maybe consider stacking the planks front to rear so they can collapse. It's kind of a no-brainer.

Yep hating on a silly "look".
Now if you have a '57 Chevy pick up, a hardwood bed will look 100x better. Hell even a lift back would kind of look ok.

But no you want to put hardwood on a sports car with a trunk, that no one will look at unless you're parking hard, surrounded dudes that circle jerk around shiny big brake kits that never seen 80mph.

Nothing complements your black and gray plastic interior than hardwood trunk liner.

But hey, it's your car and all that jazz, I'll just be the dude pointing a laughing.
