However I have really only heard a drone while cruising on the highway.
I'm not doubting you, but a lot of people confuse normal exhaust note with drone. Drone is a resonant sound that happens within the car itself and you basically "feel it" in your skull at a specific engine speed. You would experience it at any speed that corresponds to your current gear hitting the specific RPM that coincides with the resonant frequency. It is *very* annoying.

Is the drone you're referring to coming from the exhaust (rear of the car) or is it actually resonating within the car itself?

Well looks like I learned something. I have not noticed any drone according to your definition. The drone that I was referring to just comes from the exhaust.

I don't have the decibel levels for the Perrin, but I'm sure a search would help. Honestly, going with either one would lead to a successful path. I wanted the Greddy evo3 when I first did my research for catbacks, but I didn't want to wait for it. I got my Perrin in less than a week.

Does greddy plan to make the rest of the exhaust? I don't see the benefit of having larger 2.75"-3" piping if the front pipe and over pipe are either stock or aftermarket 2.5".

Good point. Also, wouldn't it be a dis-advantage to have a larger piping (unless it was FI) due to back-pressure? Right?

thats one of my concerns bc im pondering this same dilemma...i want to go FI down the road so im concerned if i got the perrin if it would be too flow restrictive....but both sound pretty good imo.

Further... I've recently seen, and want to follow up more on, that until you start hitting 350whp numbers 2.5" is still sufficient exhaust pipe dia....BC i just saw and heard Blitz exhaust and its pretty mean sound very deep and its 60mm

I love my greddy. People say its really loud but after a few weeks it tones down quite a bit. Heres a quick video of mine. Has a nice boxer sound and pops every now and then. Its only raspy when you rev it really high at stand-still... and I'm running a catless downpipe so that plays a role also. Under load it sounds amazing.

I remember seeing Nameless using a 2.5 and a 3.0 axleback on their prototype header and the 3.0 actually made more power NA. So my theory is that a 2.76 would be beneficial than a 2.5 regardless if you are NA or planning a FI in the future.

By the way, I have the EVO 3 and it is nice. Deep throaty sound slight boxer rumble, and zero rasp(Because stock cat).

I just ordered the black stealth header back exhaust (resonated) from Perrin. Went for the resonated Perrin because I like the subtle tone and I didnt want an exhaust that was too loud. There doesnt seem to be much difference in the performance, so it is really upto what sounds you like and what other plans you have for your exhaust in the future.

Well I kept the silencers on mine and I have zero drone for now, I am curious if an aftermarket header/frontpipe/overpipe will change that....

I have and evo3 and it's got a nice growl without the silencers and even with it, there's a decent sound.

The drone without the silencers at highway speeds are pretty nasty but the silencers are so easy to install/uninstall that if you got 5 min you can easily change the exhaust sounds for your DD or spirited driving needs as you like.

DSPORT proved there are 3.5 whp difference which IMO is pretty significant
