Very nice setup... making me want to put together a setup...
That new PDX V9 is an audible improvement over the older PDX's? I have a PDX4.100 floating around that never made it into my old setup, but I was planning to sell it and get a 5 channel
I want to keep the BRZ Navi, so I was thinking of doing a MS-8 to try to get the time alignment and tuning right, but I haven't researched enough to know how well it works inthe BRZ.
Sounds like you have a very NICE HU, I used to have an old 980BT which was a step down from their serious SQ Competition decks of that era, but still had some great features like the Burr Brown DSP, 16 band graphic EQ, and time alignment and I loved the sound I could get from it, much better than a lot of HU's that claimed similar or better specs.
Too bad you're across the country from me, I'd love to hear it sometime.

Thanks! Yes, I noticed an improvement in the PDX V9, but it was mostly due to the better SN ratio; it has noticeably less hiss at low volumes, and overall sounds a slight bit cleaner. Also, with the 4.100 in this car, I couldn't alleviate a subtle ground loop problem (that was not present with the 4.100 in two other cars) that made the BRZ's alternator whine slightly audible around 2-3k rpm. The V9 alleviated this as well, so it made an improvement on several levels.

I've read some singing reviews of the MS8 and that it does a great job with EQ-ing and TA, it's definitely a solid option. I'd love to get one just to play with!

How have I missed this thread until now?? That amp shelf is *superb*. I'm looking at going the MS-8 + PDX V9 route so this has certainly given me some ideas. Nice job.

Looks great! I'm curious about the receiver kit setup you have. All the ones I've seen have that goofy pocket underneath. Did you just fabricate a panel to around the HU, or was there a kit available?

Edit: Found what you did in another post. I really gotta start searching more often!

quick question for the OP-- i'm going to be in the same boat install-wise as your original setup-- planning on running the prs80 deck, full active into an f4, and m6 amp.. what made you install the amps under the rear parcel shelf? is there not much room elsewhere in the vehicle to mount them out of the way?

i'm just not crazy about taking away vertical height in the trunk from that method..

I missed the notification for the thread update, sorry for such a late response. I originally wanted the amp(s) under the driver/passenger seats, that's where they were in the previous car. However since the 86 seat rails are angled, there wasn't enough room unless the seats were slid forward, and I didn't want to take a chance having the seats slide backward and gouge the top of the amp. So, I looked for other places.

I thought about hiding it under the trunk mat, cutting a section out of the foam so it would be completely hidden. Some others have done this but I didn't want it to be a chore to gain access. I wanted to put it somewhere it would be accessible and look attractive, and I like making things, so there it went. The faceplate on the V9 comes off to access a slew of adjustments, so having it high makes for easy tuning.
