Photos courtesy of Clubrz's facebook page, was pretty much what we all expected based on the snapshots of the BRZ STI on the track. "ts" badge somewhat resembles that of the FR-S.

The handling of the car is fine...tires and a proper alignment go a long way...we need the power output to better match the damn chassis!
C'mon 220-230 hp is all I want...or even 215 with a significant reduction in the torque dip... |

A little blurry and hard to see, but it does look like the fixed brake calipers are on this car. .... I personally would like an STi version with... 1.) Front factory Camber Adjustment 2.) Wheel gap reduced by 10-15mm 3.) 25-50hp, NA w/ with higher revs (8k rpm). No damn turbos. 4.) Fixed brake calipers front and rear 5.) 17x8 wheels w/ 235 width tires 6.) Kept under 2800lbs. 7.) No outrageous body kit or wing. I find the standard BRZ to be very attractive now, so only very subtle add ons. If they can do all this without going overboard on the price, I'd sell mine for it. Of course I'm willing to pay a premium, but if it costs 8k to add, like the 'S' version in Australia, no way. This is not a 35+k car. Needs to be low 30s, maximum. |

Hmmm. With what others have said, only thing I would be interested in is the fender garnish. Pretty slick item.

So...still no mention of any sort of "performance" improvement.
For all we know, this could simply be an overpriced esthetic add-ons like the ones offered in Australia by Subaru. I'm not sure, but that exhaust in the pictures looks different than the stock one, if that's the case, that means that STI messed with the exhaust which could possibly mean they messed with air intake too, and while in there, why not tune it right? haha....too much wishful thinking. |

If the STI comes to the US, I would be shocked if it was all cosmetic. I think Subaru knows the US market will not stand for that. An STI is expected to be better in every way including some additional power. It has new suspension bits and what looks like a new exhaust. I would also expect a new intake similar to the TRD model offered by Toyota. Add all of that together with a slightly tweaked tune and I would think 215HP would be a reasonable expectation of the STI. Now, I just have to wait and see if I am close.

How they mount the STI badge in the front?
I did not see the new grille there. Thanks. |

Editing my original post to this thread, I think I do see something peeking out from under the black STI rims so it may be possible they did add those STI brakes. The pic angle is hard to really confirm, though. I'd put $$ that this type of STI trim will never make it to the states. The U.S. market has different expectations as far as performance goes. |

It's also more or less equal to the GTI, but the GTI feels a lot faster, for the same reason. If they could just eliminate the dip, it'd be a lot more pleasant. Anything done to increase peak power (aside from increasing displacement) and staying normally aspirated will just make this worse. Last edited by Admiral Ballsy; 08-04-2013 at 07:12 PM. |
