What I meant was with the trouble, it would be more worthwhile to go with a slightly more expensive kit to not have to deal with these issues. List price for the CX kit is around 1900 before shipping or discounts directly on their website.
The $3000 range is still very low budget. If you don't go with CX, you will be looking at kits in that range as there are no other options. |

Did you upgrade the injectors or just do a tune with this setup? I purchased the same kit prior to seeing this thread...

Stock injectors are fine if you are running pump gas.

As a follow-up/addition to this kit:
-The flanges are horrendous. Visibly warped. And I don't even mean when held against a flat surface or even to a trained eye. Blows my mind warped, mainly because the flanges are super thick. I didn't think metal that thick could warp that much just from welding. Every flange. -Included gaskets are useless. Don't waste your time with them. Any of them. Especially the manifold to wastegate gasket (I don't suggest using one there ever though). Even the wastegate to dump tube gasket was blown! (No idea why they even bother including that one). Get yourself a pair of new stock manifold gaskets and a quality turbo gasket. |

So, car is finally home. Forgot to update this thread. Working with Rob @ ATS has been great.
The CX manifold, included CX 3" exhaust, intercooler, and intercooler piping are all still on the car. Turbo replaced with a ball bearing 5558. Greddy FV BOV and tial wastegate have replaced the included CX parts. The downpipe was modified with a 3" v-band flange to match the turbo, but is otherwise as CX shipped it. ATS fabbed up a custom 3" intake with a K&N filter to replace the poor CX intake setup. I've only put 3,000 miles on the car with this setup and so far, so good. The poor MAF position has led to a not 100% smooth MAF curve in the tune, but we will be replacing the MAF pipe soon and retuning to fix that. The car runs and idles perfectly, this is mostly just a personal preference thing I'm wanting to fix. Otherwise I have nothing negative to say about the remaining CX parts. Everything is holding up well and exceeding my expectations. Dyno & bay shot below to show the remaining CX parts are actually being used since this forum hates CX so much. How is the car? Counting down the days until my cxracing kit comes to life, you're basically one of the only other ones!

The CX racing kit on my car was installed by Cyrious Garageworks - a high end custom shop in Ontario, Canada. I believe they said they've done 7 FT86 turbo installs, including greddy & hks kits among others. They said the CX Racing kit had by far the best results and easiest install.
Just passing on what they told me. |

I will add to this as well. I ended up spending 1-2 hours with a belt sander getting every flange acceptable. The manifold flanges were almost decent. The wastegate flange (YIKES) was by far the worst. No amount of gasket could've sealed that. Mine still isn't installed, due to the dealership blowing my engine up after the valve spring recall. I'll report more when I have it installed.
