So that's saying the Sti brakes limit the tires you can put on it?

You mean the wheels due to caliper clearance?

Dude, you're scaring me...

Wheel clearance issues for big brakes like brembos is nothing new though. Just need the right offset and width

No idea, but these are going to be arguably worse performing than stock considering they were designed for a different car.

Thats why david was recommending going with a kit designed for this car.

I have just the fronts on right now. I can tell you this they don't perform worse .
I'm going to attempt the rear tonight with the 04s I have and see what happens.

I meant if you had to buy them. The pricing makes it a bit pointless for most people who just need more heat capacity in the rotors (the main point of bigger rotors for me, and many others).

Depends on your goals.

BTW did you switch the bleeders or are the calipers installed wrong? (differential bored calipers...)

As for the rears, they will be a lot harder because of the parking brake stuff I'd guess but I haven't done it.

Balance is possibly screwed up but most wouldn't notice especially on the street. I was talking more from an expense perspective. When I last checked ebay (months ago) the whole setup, once rebuilt, would cost 2-2.5k if you had to buy everything new (minus calipers, used then rebuilt for those) and I'd want the backs if I did the front to try to maintain balance.. and then hopefully the BMC will be sized appropriately too.

Haven't done it though so who knows. I'm going with the Essex kit since it gives me a lot more cooling and heat handling up front and keeps the balance.

If you install the whole front and rear STi Brembos, I would think that if you upgrade the master cylinder that it'd be much better as opposed to stock master cylinder. After all, you've got 12 pistons total to move on the Brembos as opposed to 4 pistons total on the stock calipers. Yes, the pistons are smaller on the Brembos, but still they have a lot more volume overall with the added pistons. I wonder if the STi brake master cylinder bolts on? Has anyone tried?

Is there a difference in the calipers from the current STI or the last STI?

The BRZ has a massive master cylinder for its size. I have a feeling it may be as big, if not perhaps even bigger than the STI. I wish someone can led me their STI to compare and measure.

ps. I'm in the process of rebuilding a set of Brembos (have front and rear), etc.

The front brakes literally bolts right up no questions asked. . . . I did the install personally and all I can say from experience is that this is by far the most painless thing I've ever done. I've taken dumps that were Harder to do then this swap... we haven't had a chance to do the rears yet but if it's anything like the fronts, outs should be a quick swap. We test drove the car after the swap and from a 70-0 under hard breaking the abs kicked in and worked great and we came to a very quick halt.

The only real concern's are these.
1.) clearance due to the size of the brembos. Do boys offset was Damn near perfect in the front and has plenty of room in the back.

2.) switching the calipers to make sure the bleeder screw is pointing up so you can bleed the system. On the sti the calipers are on the back of the rotor while the frs/brz are facing the front. So you have to take the right side brembo off the sti and put it on the left side of your frs/brz.
