I'm pretty sure they're a really expensive option...do what ecomodders do, use plastic foam board! It's on the bottom of the car, no one is going to say anything :P
Also covering the rear suspension should probably come before covering the gas tank. |

Well that's sad. I wonder what the effects are on overall highway mpg. It would have made for decent protection against road salt in the winter...

Aids in reducing overall body lift by keeping free-stream airspeed higher and lowering the air pressure underneath the car. Added benefits to underbody aerodynamic paneling is reduced road noise (as previously mentioned) and better fuel economy (also mentioned). The weight penalty should not be high either. Frankly, I am bummed that those components did not make it on the cars. I would have paid a little extra for it.

^thanks for the post. At least we know that there are options.. I'm just bummed that toyota/subaru removed a part that has performance value. This is a car that bases it's success on the driving experience after all..

The FR-S pics linked in the first post are correct based on the pics I took at one of the First Drive event. No extra panels on the FR-S...

I think I'm just going to buy some of these from a European dealer and bring them back with me the next time I'm over there. I think I can get around $$$ shipping by using my military post office connections. They look pretty big though.

Coroplast under panels FTW! Get 'em in black plastic; who cares if they get scratched up because they're cheap as hell to replace! And please do a better job than this guy; avoid the self-tapping screws and rivets!

Back on topic, the picture from the front shows that most of the undercarriage is somewhat smooth, but when you get to the back you can see what the problem is: the exhaust pipe, suspension arms, and half shafts. Putting a piece of coroplast board onto the suspension arms should help aerodynamics a bit. |

That's actually the TRD exhaust, so I don't know if the stock exhausts are the same or not.

Wouldn't incomplete underbody coverage allow road salt to build up in the panels? Or do the panels go vertically all the way to the chasis?

Yeah but better for.road salt to be on the panels than on your frame, im getting the panels from luck motorsports, they are more to protect gas and brake lines, also they have one for the diff to protect the casing and seal breakage, iplan offroadi.g my FRS a couple days out of the year and need the protection
