I've seen an overview of the DSport comparison, but never the full review with actual numbers/graphs. Anyone have a link to this? I'd love to see the breakdown brand by brand. I know most of the pro's on this board have stated tube+filter. I'd just like to see number for number on the same setup car.

Airaid is a "performance" oriented intake system.

Intakes are effectively noisemakers on these cars. I've yet to see one record meaningful gains, and many people suggest just using a drop in air filter. I did the drop it for a while, and to be honest it made absolutely no difference to anything at all. Save your money.

Depends on the type of intake. For a "Ram Air" style intake, then no, the bumper doesn't need to come off. For a Cold Air Intake (CAI), yes you will need to remove the bumper.

Not a dumb question, in the case of the FA20 club version you will need to get the bumper off to be able to slot the filter and intake piping in front of the radiator to get cooler air. Some others like the AEM, K&N etc. don't require it but still get decent gains, each company has its own technique but the most gains out of just an intake I have seen are around 12 hp. Someone else can explain it better than I can though.

Has anyone done any testing with the ones that require the bumper to come off to see if they get any colder air than the ones using the normal snorkel? I'm asking because most of the aftermarkets, like the TRD utilize the built in intake port that pulls air from the bumper. It seems to me that at speed the temp difference is likely negligible between the Perrin and the TRD (for example). I imagine it's not sucking in warmed air, the air is being warmed by exposure to the plumbing under the hood.

There are no gains with this car without tuning and , as usual with Subies, the stock air box is good.

I know this is the standard response. Plenty of professionals I trust that agree with this. However, does this just mean the DSport article everyone references is trumped up? Or is the situation when a car is intake-only, some of the intakes lean out the stock tune and develop marginally more power?
