The 14 Camaro was on my short list when looking for a new car. Would have had to go with the 6 as my commute would destroy me with the 8 and gas prices here.
Took one for a test drive and didn't like it AT ALL!
I have literally drove tanks that had a better feel for the road.
Straight line acceleration (even with the 6)? Great!
Comfort and tech goodies? Great!
Looks? Great!
Feel like you are not even driving and the car is floating around? Yep and not so great!

I would certainly consider a smaller lighter version that sacrifices some of the straight line acceleration for some road feel.
Oh wait, I already have that!!!!!!!

As with the Mustang, I will believe it when I see it.

I know they're making it smaller. That's great. Now how much less does it hopefully weigh?

I agree. I'll believe it when I see it. Honestly, I doubt they will get the weight down much. GM also has to be careful with the Corvette crowd. They don't like it when the Camaro becomes "better" than the Corvette. It's a fine line they walk. On the one hand, they need to compete with the Mustangs/Camaros on the other hand they can't outperform the Corvettes for half the cost.

Even though it will be smaller, I do not expect that it will be much lighter. When the 2010 Camaro came out I was all set to buy one. I drove my Cadillac CTS to the dealer and parked next to the Camaro to look it over. Imagine my shock when the Camaro proved to be a much larger car than my CTS. I was so disappointed that it was not the remake of the 69 Camaro that I had years ago. I kept the Caddy.

Now, I am past the time in my life that I would consider owning a Camaro but I do still like the car. I hope they peel off a few inches of every dimension except wheelbase and a couple hundred pounds. The 4 cylinder turbo engine from the ATS would make a nice counter to the Mustangs Ecoboost 4.

That would be the base model, but I do agree with you on the picture being close to the production vehicle.

Yep... rumors of Mustang dropping weight kinda made the new model intro lame... it ended up gaining 200 pounds.

If the Camaro drops some weight, it will help compete with the Mustang on those terms.

You know, I thought it was ugly when it was first announced...

They can't possibly make it uglier I said. Hoping future generations would get a facelift.

I was wrong.

That looks like a *barely* modded photo of the current-gen car.

Thanks to Ford failing to reset the bar in the smaller/lighter direction with the new Mustang, I seriously doubt the next Camaro will be much if any smaller/lighter than the current enormous and overweight iteration

This is reminding me of the 2015 Mustang all over again.

I'll believe the weight loss when I see it in the production model.

whatever it's specs you know Motortrend's going to go straight up it's ass

I have never seen so much bias in a car magazine have you watched their youtube vids? they look for reasons to feature GM cars

seems like ford dropped the ball big time with the 15 mustang, every review i`ve read makes the car seem like a dud. Not sure how much weight reduction they actually did, the v8 weighs just as much as the camaro ss now

Probably getting paid off.

This is why I stopped reading car magazines. In search of facts, I always end up instead reading about the tastes and opinions in cars of some idiot journalist.

Yep, most car magazines today are just PR extensions of the companies that advertise the most with them. Long gone are the days of objective journalism.

Ah, I saw this picture the other day and didn't have a chance to post it. TopSpeed has mocked up a drawing based on spyshot pictures and what we know of the next Camaro as it'll sit on the ATS platform. Could be a good bit different.
