Nice TV jason jealous of that 7.2 though. As soon as one of my dad's Onkyo breaks, Im going to convince him to help me pay for some Klipsh speakers. Hes old enough to remember back when they made their cone speaker designs.
Told me an old fraterinty story of him building a 4 foot tall cone speaker that basically blew the windows out of their party room

I used to have a pair of LS-12 and a pair of AT-15 Vegas as well. But my new house basement layout was not good for floor standing speakers so I reluctantly let them go. Took me forever to find the pair of AT-15's I had and when I did they had bad surrounds so I re-foamed them. Alot of good memories with them speakers but the kid who bought them from me was also a avid Vega fan so that made the sale a little easier. That and getting twice what I paid for them when I got them.

Agreed.... what headphone is that?
Finally got my Fostex/Massdrop TH-X00 Purplehearts in nearly 2 months ago and am ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE with them! Extremely tight and impactful low end/sub-bass to die for, mids that are clear and strong, and clear, precise highs that never step over the edge to shrillness. Using my old J-Money pads I had on my Denon AH-D2000's, which did take a little bass away but added a little clarity throughout the entire frequency range. Basically the TH-X00 PH are everything I expected them to be, and more. Also modded my Philips SHP9500's, taking off the stock pads and changing over to Shure 1540 Alcantara pads....comfort level went up noticeably over stock, though sound got a little darker. Need to remove the foam on the cloth flter of the Shure pads to get more clarity. The SHP9500 are my gaming cans, so comfort is a must along with good, precise sound.... The Fostex TH-X00 PH with J-Money pads: The SHP9500 with Shure 1540 pads:

Finally got the SHP9500's where I want them, foam removed from the 1540 pad fabric that covers the drivers, grilles blacked out (Sharpie'd), and headstrap changed out to a leather one (modified a MrSpeakers Leather comfort pad for Fostex TX0RP series).
Sound is better with increased clarity and dynamics, and comfort has gone WAY up....really like it. Logged into Destiny after about 3 weeks of not playing and went about 6 hours in much comfort trying to increase my Titan's light level....nice sound in the game too!

A nice DAC does make a difference...just got in a Schiit Bifrost, and it is much nicer paired with the Meier Audio JAZZ-ff amp than the Audioquest DragonFly Red DAC/amp was. Much more detail and a fuller, richer sound.

ok experts:
I have an old polk 10 inch 100w sub with a blown amp (common that year) my backup 8 inch 50w that came with my old HTIB is slowly being eaten alive by my French bulldog pup. wife said "time for an upgrade anyway" I was blown away as that is very out of character for her lol so should I just replace the amp in the polk? build a whole new sub using the ported polk enclosure? just for the hell of it... sharp aqious 80 inch 1080p sony 5.1 full set of polk 6.5 driver series (4x bookshelf and matching center, all circa 2003) polk 10" sub (blown amp) JVC 8" (the spare)

If the driver is in good condition and you just want to replace the amp I don't see how that would be a bad thing. Just need to figure out what amp you need to get. http://www.parts-express.com/cat/sub...amplifiers/332 Otherwise if the enclosure is good, you could get new different driver and amp for ~$200-$300, not too much money.

I've been using the Audioquest Dragonfly on my PC for the last few years and generally been pretty happy with it. Wanted a Bifrost for a long time though.
But now I see they have this bad boy (modi 2 multibit) which seems like a great deal: http://schiit.com/products/modi-2 I only listen to 320kbps MP3s. Do I really need a better DAC than the Dragonfly?
