Got my pump replaced last month, and it's been fine. Today I took it out for a rather spirited drive and I noticed when pulling into my garage that the crickets had returned.

Anyone know if it may be in some way related to engine heat/high fuel flows? It seemed to come back right after I did some high load driving.

I just had my 7,500 maintenance which was just oil and filter, but my crickets seemed to have disappeared. No mention of any other work done - but the engine feels smoother now and quieter after a hard drive. Maybe it's just the temp / phase of the moon.

Yes, first change. I should have done it sooner, but time flies.

Don't feel bad, recommended maintenance schedules are recommended for a reason. I put my faith in engineers as well.

Edit: Also phase of the moon is an apt description for when my chirps appear as well.

went to my dealership today to let them hear the chirps...i told them it usually happens when the engine is warm after running for about 20min. They didnt even bother listening to it and told me the chirps are normal and its because of the direct injection... fail dealership

They're already back, those moments of silence didn't last very long

There is a temperature factor as well. Mine have diminished pretty significantly since it got cooler up here.

Not that this will be a big surprise...

Been filling up with E0 for the last 7k getting no chirps since I started. Went back to Colorado so I had to get E10 and the chirps came back with the first fill up.

Nothing new, just adding another data point for the people who still believe ethanol content is unrelated.

I didn't read through this entire thread, but checked both ends of it...

Am I gathering that these crickets are more of an annoyance than something I should worry about?

Well I guess I can live with that... now I just have to decide if I want to bother with the dealership about rough idle camshaft sensor misfire.

I just got crickets at precisely 2400 miles on the nose. It is really loud outside the car. I pulled into my driveway, my wife was outside and she said,"Why is it chirping?" I told her of the issue many have had with the car and she said, "well it's yours for sure now! Who wants to drive a car that sounds like a cricket? I've seen you dismantle our whole house looking for a cricket, that is gonna drive you nuts." We shall see my dear, we shall see.
