If I wasn't always driving solo and had a UEL now, I would make a video for you. The way the car is currently set up, the exhaust basically masks any other noises.

Would be interested in that video.

Yup- once you add a UEL, all I hear is a rumble.

You basically cannot hear it in a video. You'll get a little noise off-throttle at higher RPM from the recirculator, and a tiny bit of induction noise with sharp throttle inputs at VERY low speeds (same as an intake).

Of course, if you *want* noise, you can always add a BOV...

I'll make a better video soon, but mine is noticeable.
Still not sure if there's something wrong with it though since it doesn't seem to sound like anyone else's.

Does a BOV work with this kit? And where would you attach it???

The kit has a bypass valve that acts like a blow off valve but it recirculates. I am not 100% sure but I believe you have to recirculate it so that Mass Air Flow does not go crazy. I think if you vent it to atmosphere the engine could keep shutting off, but I am not a tuner so I don't know if this is the case or if there is a work around.

Where the recirculator is. A re-tune specific to the BOV is recommended, even though the BOV would be way, way ahead of the MAF.

Seems like pretty ridiculous work just to make the car go woosh woosh.

You would have to do the same thing with a turbo kit.

Couldn't we use the Perrin BOV?

Quote:
For cars that require recirculating blow off valves, it is vital that it recirculates the air back to the intake track to maintain proper air-fuel ratio and driveability between shifts.

For cars that can utilize vent to atmosphere blow off valves, this can be set up as a vent to atmosphere style blow off valve. We only recommend that on cars running aftermarket Speed Density type tunes (cars without mass airflow sensor).
If you're running an SD-only tune (perhaps from Delicious Tuning?) maybe you could just disconnect the MAF, block off the hole and set the BOV to atmosphere. Anything else, just run the BOV in recirculate mode.

I'm still setting things up for a custom tune anyway, so if that sounds doable, maybe I can try it since it fits with my build.

The IAT from the MAF is still used, but you could always weld on the BOV.

this "fits" perfectly as a replacement of the plastic one we get with the kit. you have to set it pretty soft but it works.

whats cool too is that you can just use one of the included plugs and it can be full recirculating instead of 50/50 Vent to atmosphere/recirculate. it'd just be a replacement to a higher quality piece... not really needed but hey... because racecar.

I had it 50/50 when running the carb tune and I can tell you it didn't run as smooth as when running the included plastic BPV but it still ran. I swapped back and forth between the turbosmart kompact and the included plastic BPV.

ever since switching to a speed density tune its a lot smoother, but still not as smooth as the carb + plastic BPV, probably like 95% there though so I don't mind.

when you build up boost and let off the throttle it has that initial high pitch BOV noise, followed by a "who just unplugged an air compressor hose?" noise.

Hey guys, not sure if my google-fu sucks or what. Thought I'd try here to find some answers. For those who have supercharged their car and have installed a wideband AFR gauge with stock headers, where are you guys mounting your O2 sensor at. I've seen a thread where they have welded the O2 bung on their front pipe right before the cat, or on their overpipe, but instructions and other people say to place the sensor before any cat. Does that mean you can't have any cats in front of the sensor including the primary to have an accurate reading. Or does it mean you just have to have it in front of a cat? So would I be good welding the O2 bung to either the overpipe or the front pipe? Any help would be appreciated.
