We took advantage of the ideal conditions this morning to take an 86DRIVE up and over the always fun and challenging Mt. Hamilton. We started from Livermore and initiated a few first-timers on the joys and thrills of Mines Rd., and then continued on up to the Lick Observatory. After the requisite rest stop and photos we continued on down into San Jose. Participants in this DRIVE all received a STAR for safely completing this journey and that means earning another chance to win some cool prizes at the end of the summer! We had lots of discussions about future driving routes and of course I think everyone is looking forward to getting together again for the next 86DRIVE. Be sure to check out our Events calendar periodically if you want to see when we have the next Summer DRIVES planned! Hint: Nearly every weekend this summer we will have something going on.

Oof, sorry I missed the fun. I didn't get home until 2:00 am Saturday morning and having to meet in Livermore at 7:00 meant I would have had to leave the house by 6 which means outta bed at 5:30. I will try to make the next one. Looked like a lot of fun!

The next drive is scheduled for Sat Jun 21 but some family things came up and I probably can't do it anymore.

If any experienced drivers can pick a route and lead it on either Sat or Sun please let me know. Otherwise I will cancel or reschedule.

There are some spontaneous weekday and evening drives from time to time. Folks usually post if they do, so I would just keep an eye on this thread. I usually do a quick lunch time drive of redwood rd in Castro valley on Friday's once in a while and have been joined by a few of the locals.

I'm planning to do a twilight drive in the Peninsula area this Friday evening, since I am going to be in the area and free. If anyone wants to join me:

5:30PM - I'll be at this parking lot, at the intersection of Hwy92 and Skyline Blvd.
4355 Skyline Blvd, Redwood City, CA 94062

from there I will head down Skyline towards Alice's Restaurant and then take Hwy 84 to La Honda. Depending on my mood and the mood of anyone who comes, I may continue on to the coast and explore some of the other roads like Hwy 1, Stage Rd or Pescadero. Then back to Alice's and perhaps stop there for dinner. If anyone wants to join at Alice's we can meet there too.

post here or PM me if you're coming, so I know to wait for you.
