I always wondered if back in the late 90's Honda looked at VW and Toyota and thought to themselves; how can they be selling their grocery getters with much inferior suspension and engine design than we do but for more money, maybe we should do the same.

Actually around the block from my house there's a 2016 Civic and a 2008 Accord sitting on the same driveway. The Civic seems to be a bigger car.

Seems I'm in the minority on this but I actually really like the design of this, aside from the rear. I could do without the red accent stripe on the aero but I don't think I'd change much else on the front and sides. As for the rear, that spoiler just doesn't seem right, and I think the exhaust would look much better as a single, trapezoidal exit.

But, this is the first Honda product that's caught my interest since the S2000 and RSX. I think the new base Civic is arguably the fugliest thing on the market so I'm surprised at how much I like this Type R.

That Nur-Spec/ STI looking wing is terrible. And yes it screams ricer. But I like the thought. If it were more subtle then I'd say great. Oh well. At least Honda is trying.

If this car is as good as the Type-R legendary reputation we've built up stateside I would love to de-rice it and own it as a family vehicle that sneaks into local auto-x/track days.

Zero faith it will live up to that hype though.

it's a Civic, not an Aventador.

I agree on the fact that there's something about this Civic that is attention-grabbing in a good way.

maybe the rear needs a more subtle spoiler

Now, i don't know if i would ever want to own one. I feel like i would look like a tool driving it, but then again who cares what other people say about your car? As long as you're enjoying yourself and not actually being a tool then what's the problem?

The WRX is a warmed over Impreza. The Impreza has always been a competitor of the Civic's. So this shouldn't be a surprise.

I like everything about it except the red accents and the two huge vents in the rear.

Sizes have been nearly identical in years past. Kind of wish they were smaller cars like back in the days but because of safety regulations, we'll keep seeing these cars get bigger and heavier.

Holy shit this Civic looks as tall as the Nissan Juke in real life they might as well just call it a crossover.
