What I'm saying is that if this becomes just another Celica (low HP, mediocre weight, low price) then no thanks. A 2-liter boxer engine, quite simply, isn't going to cut it for long with all the semi-required "options" they've got to tuck in to make it pass muster with safety people and the average person. Toyota needs another true performance engine to compete with the likes of the Genesis and the 370-those two, no matter what you say, are going to be its competitors. The FT will have a weight advantage, but nowhere near a large enough one to justify itself with the aftermarket community if even the high-end will get a 4-there's a whole line of Hondas they can get for that.

And it seems most of the world doesn't seem to agree with you... it won't take much to pass "muster" against that "fat bastard" 370z...

This thread is just a "hello" thread... speculations, concerns, gripes, praise, etc. should be posted in the appropriate threads.

Hey people, Im from Australia and first heard about the FT-86 late last year and have been far too excited about it ever since. Really hoping they bring it down under and that the production car is everything they are promising it will be

i don't off road terribly often (still not a complete mall-crawler, haha), but my factory suspension is getting a little long in tooth, and as long as i'm looking at replacing the suspension, i might as well lift it a little. i'd also like a little higher stance for winters like this, where we've gotten multiple 6"+ storms. it won't help much in the back unless i get larger tires, but with the IFS, i think it'll help a little going through the deeper powder. i'm also wanting to do front and rear high-clearance bumpers, which will add some weight, so hopefully the springs won't pick my truck up too high for the stock UCA's.

Hi ! I'm Jean-Sébastien from Quebec in Canada.

I've used to have 2 AE86 ( my first cars )... loved them soo mutch

My last sports car was a Right Hand Drive Celica Gt-Four. Sold it, not my style. Really to heavy.

Now i've got a 2005 Corolla XRS, a daily drive with some punch !

Just can't wait to get my FT-86

Well.. there have been hints that a Subaru version is NOT coming to AU or NZ..
But the same source did say that this car [the FT-86 itself, I think..] was meant to be a global car.. or something like that. You may not get the AWD Subie, but you'll prolly be getting an RWD Toyota, if any of us are.
