Case in point. A couple older guys being their corvettes to autocross. They aren't Z06s but still way more capable than most of the cars there but they consistently get the slowest times.

Do what you want, it's your life.

If you want to impress someone, win a Nobel prize or some shit (not literally winning shit, you see I mean some other note-worthy prize). Build a water distillation plant in Sudan. Figure out cold fusion. Arm wrestle a grizzly bear. Win a marathon...in Nigeria. Herd cats.

I drive an automatic. I know how to drive a stick, learned how to drive in a manual 1980 Z28 which I purchased for $500.

I drive an automatic because I want to. Don't you?

Yes, great point. I have seen this before. The skill and experience of a driver often can really make or break their time.

...or skilled and experienced driver doesn't choose which trans on the car. They still can driver fast.

Example, Moto-san from Club4AG. He can out run Porsche, S2k and other fast car with his lightly modded AT FR-S (mostly suspension mods). Make it awesome, he can drift with it too!

Now, this is my take on this topic (& not pointing at you)
Instead of making excuse owning MT (or AT), enjoy driving this car. Learn how to drive properly and learn how to drive fast. If you're worry and thinking what kind of excuse to use for owning MT/AT, you're wasting time.

Just go out and drive!

I'm not worried about owning a MT. ATs are for Camrys & minivans.

Porsche 911, Ferrari Berlinetta, Lamborghini Hurcan, Astin Martin Vantage, Lexus LFA, Koenigsegg 1:One & all other sports car/exotic cars have AT trans and not only Camry & minivans... unless I missed the sarcasm in that post

You did.

I've posted a few times on the merits of the AT. If I drove one I'm afraid I would like it.

It truly is ALL about the driver.

Well damn, I missed it.

AT isn't bad at all. Only reason I got MT on my car is color I was looking at was MT. If it came w AT, I still would of bought it.

Sometimes I'm a little too subtle with the trollage.

I'm big enough to admit my romantic attachment to MTs and that, for at least a decade, sporty ATs have become much faster than any human with a stick. Any rational reason for choosing a MT has long ago evaporated, IMHO.

I seriously considered but didn't ask on purpose. Every time I read about worn syncro woes I think about your car.
