Occasionally if he's hyper he can do a demand bark either at me or other dogs to play but nothing crazy. He did the "Shiba scream" the first month or two when training him to stay in his playpen or crate (gave up on the crate, lol) and also when giving him the first few baths. Since then barely any screaming except when he's at the vet or groomer (once for nail trim, and he bit the lady ). He doesn't bite me or anyone we know, really. He'll occasionally kind fake bite/snap at me if I do something he doesn't like on a walk. Like when he wants to go one way but I say "nuh uh we're going this way", or if he keeps sitting and insists on waiting for one of his buddies to come but they don't, so I pick him up and he does it. But I can pick him up 90% of the time without "biting" and he knows not to do it in general.

Other than that he sleeps most of the day. We walk til like 10am or so and he'll just chill or fall asleep on the balcony, then come inside and sleep till 3 or 4pm minimum (last few days til 5ish, due to time change).

Yuna turned 3yo last Sunday. Def first yr, Shiba gonna be in the puppy stage & have a ton of zoomies.
Are you using playpen or crate for him to only sleep? Or spot for him to stay while you’re gone? We used to use it for both, but now she can control herself, we let her be free. First 3 months, Yuna had an issue staying, but we got her comfortable enough to stay inside & sleep.

Using anti-anxiety stuff animal & warm bag of rice helped her be calm inside the crate. Also recommend towel or tshirt that used by you recently to reduce more anxiety.

I went w 3 must follow & 2 kinda follow rules on Yuna… well that’s how my family train all the dogs.
1. No biting
2. No barking/screaming
3. Potty trained
4. No running out the door
5. Basic commends

So far, she’s following well. Of course it wasn’t easy at first. Like you said, Shiba is known for their stubbornness… BUT clearly my stubbornness out-stubborn her (nothing to be proud of lmao). She follow the rules so we’ll, one day I was cutting her nails & one nail I accidentally over cut it & it started to bleed. No bark, not scream… only a tears. That traumatized me, all the nail grinding (we use grinder now) plus done by my wife now. I had few times over cut w my parents dogs before & they cry to yell at my WTF, but Yuna just a tears. Didn’t expected tears will traumatize me that much.

Only thorn she have is, she cannot play w smaller dogs. She grew up playing w Doberman who was much older & calm, so he let her do whatever she wanted. Shiba commonly play enough w each other… it made it worse. My wife’s cousin once a while bring their Shi-Tzu & Yuna “try” to play, but always make that Shi-Tzu cry & runs away.

Ahhh yeah. I've heard 2-3 years is around when they finally chill out.

I have a crate in my room that is always open. He sometimes sleeps in there or goes in there if something scary happens (like dishwasher running). I have a playpen in my dining area right now. I think I basically crate-trained him for the playpen, which kinda sucks but it is what it is. I can easily leave him in the playpen and he'll sleep for the time I mentioned earlier if I run out. Been starting to try free roam when I leave for short periods too and he's done decently well so far. At night it's either the playpen or my bedroom with the door closed; he has a crate and a separate bed in my room but also just lays on the floor.

For the most part I can out-stubborn him, but lately he's gotten somewhat more resistant. I think it's the adolescence.

I have a nail dremel thing but the problem is that he keeps thinking it's a toy and so he tries to lick it... So obviously that's dangerous, so I rarely use it. Not sure how to get him to not see it as a toy. In fact he does the same thing with the clippers, but with those he flinches even if I touch them to the nail without even clipping... Some friends of mine with a shiba made a giant nail-file using a piece of wood shelving with sandpaper glued on. So I've been thinking of running to Home Depot to get supplies to make my own and then just train Haru to slide his front paws (the ones with longest nails) from top to bottom to help sand them down (thats what my friends did and it works well enough with theirs).

Training-wise, he's not _too_ bad except when he's being rebellious.

I got him trained super well to sit automatically whenever he sees a dog within a certain distance and wait til the right time to say hi (occasionally he still tries to go on his own but we're working on it). He doesn't bite at home at all, even from the beginning I've never bled, only gotten some light scratches from his teeth. Potty trained for a while now. Basic commands too.

For playing, he'll play with just about any dog. He's only had issues with older males that aren't neutered (Haru's vet said to wait til 2 years old..) and that was the other dogs who basically instigated the problem. His best friend is this huge, 90lb or so husky/pitbull/lab mix and they play pretty rough. But he also plays fine with smaller dogs his size too. It's pretty great so far, actually.

I was supposed to have a 2nd technical round interview just now (15 mins ago).

This is on Google Meet (like Zoom or Webex or whatever).

The girl on the other end literally sounded as though her audio had been slowed down to 0.5x speed. Like, go on youtube, find a video of someone talking, and then choose the 0.5x speed playback option lol.

She said we'll have to reschedule.

I'm just like, can't we just call each other on the phone? My cellphone is literally right here and we can still do a screenshare over Google Meet.

But nope.

This, too, has helped me during these expensive times. But so has my Onlyfans.

You can get a 10 or 12 inch fine metal file that will zip them off PDQ.
Can lick it til the cows come home and all it will do is rust a bit.
Pre-treat with a bit of mineral oil and it won't rust either.

I need to get over to Atlanta Motor Park sometime and do the Karts there.

Maybe the next time all my sons are in town....

Now THAT track looks like fun.

The Ridge has a kart track that is a mini replica-ish of the full size track. I haven't ridden it because the karts are pretty hammered. Those things are like 12k+ each and they don't take the beating that well.

it started off simple.

i think the homeowner walked through the house to mark out where they wanted switches/outlets in a new build(without respect to any sort of standard/code of course).

but they used monster stickers for switches, and monster truck stickers for outlets.

at first, it was funny.

but i can't help but start wondering if they insisted on using kiddie stickers to either insult my intelligence intentionally, or because they think i wouldn't see something unless it's in kiddie form...

Now that's a place to run a division-1 kart! Pat's is way too tight.
