This article talks about the Delta variant surge in Iceland. Their vaccination rate is 77%, which is close to the 80% rate that is touted as the possible point for reaching herd immunity, so the fact that the Delta surge is so large is telling. Deaths are non-existent probably because of vaccinations, sheltering, contact tracing, etc., but this surge of cases exceeded the winter, yet deaths didn’t follow.

The US has seen benefits from the vaccinations too, but we have further to go and with more hesitancy.

Interestingly, I compared my county, Sonoma County, with a population of 494k to Iceland with a population of 344k. We have 35k cases and 338 deaths. Iceland has had 9.5k cases and 30 deaths.

Delta COVID Surge in Iceland Is Very Bad News for the U.S

Goes to show you, don't get too comfortable. Keep the mask off bubble as small as you realistically can. We can feel confident, but these stories only reinforce how dangerous being nonchalant about the pandemic can be.

Very sorry to hear this news, Lantana.

I'm honestly thinking that if you can, limit your exposure to anyone lol. Phil was an ardent masker last I saw him. Dont know about his wife.

I try to do the bold as much as possible. Hence why I literally only talk to my coworkers and clients. I avoid members or anyone at the stores if I can, unless I like them. Which is a small handful.

Sorry, Lantana. It hits home when it's someone you know or worse, a family member, after becoming numb from reading and hearing about the dreadful stats every day.

What on earth is she buying? I zoomed way in, to look at the cereal box mind you, and to my old eyes, it appears to say Petrified Wheat.
