Yes, heard it first hand from you and from others on the forum here and other sites, but the Z comes with a single piece unit from the factory, and I don't think it has issues. Issues seem to be hit or miss on here.

I'd be curious to know what speeds KPower has had their test car up to. I know they have been tracking it.

Well I ordered the kit the literal minute it was available on the website haha. I got the complete package with 9lb flywheel, minus the clutch as the ACT on my BRZ was only a couple thousand miles old before the engine blew. I also got the OEM parts package as well...
I chose the 9lb flywheel as I have one on my 500hp rotary street driven Rx7 and have zero issues with how lightweight it is. I also have a 12lb flywheel on my street driven 370z and again, no issues with how lightweight it is, so I am banking on a similar experience with this kit. I'll update the thread (or maybe make a new one) with how everything goes. My plan is to get the kit as installed as it can be without an engine before sourcing a K24a2... that way I can most efficiently utilize any warranty period on the engine in case their are issues. |

I bought the complete kit with a/c and heat with the steel flywheel. I'll stick with the stock Exedy clutch so saved a quite a chunk of change there. With shipping it totaled $9792.11.I wish they would let you skip the driveshaft part since I had a guy local prepped to shorten mine. I tried to spend a few hours hashing out different options and decided the whole enchilada wasn't much more than I was planning to spend. You can't buy the intake/filter separate plus it appeared the base tune isn't included with just the ECU kit? Good news is I can sell the stuff I bought that won't be used now to help make some of the gap up.
I'd post up a pic of my setsy k24a2 but I'm over paying for photo linking. |

Also, does anyone happen to know if an automatic ECM will work for this setup or do I HAVE to buy a manual version to play nice? In my mind the Haltech covers the ECM part so it wouldn't matter, but I'm outta my league on that sorta stuff.

I got confirmation the ECM doesn’t matter. You will gut the stock one and screw the jumper thingy into the stock case. Also instructions will be done next month I think before kits ship. It’s always the little details left out I’d like to be prepared for so that would be nice to have early.

Nope. Stock fork, throw out bearing, and slave are used from what I’m reading. Which I find glorious. The hydraulic will be introduced later for those wanting an “upgrade”. I assume those with more power will prefer that for a higher rated pressure plate?

I want to order, but now that I see the prices of the transmission stuff, I don't know if I want to do the ZF, Getrag, CD009 or keep the stock stuff for now and sell it later when the time comes to upgrade. All the transmission stuff is $2.2k, but those same items I can get for $500-700 less, but it does mean I need a transmission, clutch, etc. from a CD009 or whatever I go with, and it means I don't have an off-the-shelf driveshaft, shifter and mounts to do.
I think if I ordered their transmission mount then I could adapt/modify that easier to fit a new transmission than the stock 86 mounts. I just don't know if I should just keep the stock transmission for now. I was hoping the GR86 transmission would be a little stronger, so I could swap that one down the road if I wanted instead of a full swap. I don't know if the CD009 shifts just as well. Hmmm. Opinions?

I ordered the kit minus the transmission stuff. The wife and I talked, and we both are of the mind that a CD009 would be better, but I just don't have the time with nursing school and work to do much more custom stuff. I still need to install everything and make custom IC pipes and downpipe and get it tuned, so adding a custom transmission swap might just be asking for problems. I can get a my car up and running faster. After nursing school I can do a swap when I do an engine build if I want. That also gives some time to find out if the GR86 transmission is enough to hold more power. I really don't know if I will want 400whp, 450whp, 500whp, etc. so at this time, we think the stock transmission with a mild power setup is going to be good for now.
I'll get the other transmission stuff when I finish thinking about it for a few more days. I'll need a Verus fork and pivot again. I got the AC kit, and it comes with a belt, but I will need an EP3 pulley. I have a compressor from a Accord, so hopefully that works. I see they are out of flywheel OEM bolts. Just saying.

For anyone who hasn't noticed, the full kit is $9,9995, and if you add up all the parts individually, it comes out to $10,416, yet it won't include the intake or two coolant/radiator pipe adapters/reducers, so if anyone want to save some money then they should just get the full kit. Just saying.

That's why I settled on the complete kit. CAI, Whiteline trans insert, thermostat inlet plug, accessory belt, and who knows what else. None of that adds up to a lot of dough, but if you were trying to get the complete kit piece meal you are kinda screwed. |
