Toyota and Subaru Officially Confirm Second Gen 86! (September 27, 2019)

It's ridiculous how little fender width there is.

They could probably do a cantilever system and shorten the whole thing but that would probably cost way to much to engineer and mass produce.

I hear ya there. It was 55°F last night around 10pm. I had all my windows open to bring inside some cool refreshing air. About every 15 minutes or so I could hear the AC compressor on my neighbor's HVAC unit turn on.

Though on the bright side, my electrical grid is powered by nuclear energy (plant is about 30 miles from my neighborhood).

So, 5.6% of the vehicles on the road do 23% of the emissions pollution.

To me, that means its time to go after that target. Also, I'm guessing (but didn't try to look it up) the freight portion is the part that is increasing as the sales of personal vehicles is declining but the number of freight vehicles is increasing.

Two sides to every story and you can always spin it either way.
Which is why Ontario doesn't even do emissions testing for passenger vehicles any more (cost compared to the number of test failures); but they're targeting transport trucks.

I'm sure in a few years they'll start testing passenger vehicles again to make sure we don't get too out of hand.

According to A70TTR they are going to reuse the current chassis.

Do I think that's the best logic? no, but what I think doesn't matter... I think it would be awesome to offer both an NA and FI variant, price accordingly, and call it a day (the Supra has 4 and 6 cylinder variants after all). another thing to consider however is engineering requirements that Toyota sets forth, and Tada told me the 86 in current configuration would not meet structural guidelines for much more power, and since they are reusing the same chassis that's definitely a concern. All can be solved with time and money, but we know how that goes...

If we really got a NA 86 with 230 HP, I'd probably be content.

Most rumors estimate around 210-220hp max. Even 230 is laughable imo though, you may as well buy a header and tune for your current car and match or even exceed that if you’re a current owner.

Quite possibly. If it comes out in 2021 My FR-S will be nine years old. With the Zupra falling short of my hopes - there's not much else out there I'm excited about in this segment.

There was a white 2017+ BRZ w/Subaru bumper and extra vents on the track a while back. I was the one who posted it but I’m too lazy to go back and find the original source...

Ah yes! OK so they may be "new" but if that is it then I will eat my hat! That is just a plain old 17+ 86 bumper under that camo.
